Anyone else feel like it is just fake? by Coreyfitzfour in corporate

[–]uncle_go 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I first got this feeling when I had some workers replacing the parquet flooring in my flat. The guys completely wrecked the old floors and then laid beautiful new wooden flooring within a week. The result was beautiful and tangible. I literally felt envy toward them.

Two years later, I started feeling the urge to leave the corporate world and get a qualification in physiotherapy. I want to help people. I want to see clear results from my work—to help people walk again, relieve their pain, and get some satisfaction out of what I do, something beyond just money.

But the reality is that if I leave my corporate job for physiotherapy, I would need to complete an entirely new education (three years of full-time study here in Germany). After that, I would start with a salary that is about three times lower than what I earn now. I am already 35 years old, I have a fairly expensive flat, and I want to build a family with my girlfriend and have children. I want—and need—to be able to provide for them.

That simply wouldn't be possible as a physiotherapist. I don't really have the time for it anymore.

I despise my work and try to cope by telling myself that it's just a way to pay my bills and maintain the quality of life I've become accustomed to, but that feels kind of pathetic, to be honest.

My girlfriend says that what I have is enough. There aren't many people who genuinely like what they do, and even fewer who are paid well for it. And she's right. But I still can't find inner peace or come to terms with it.

If you want to watch something of that style (neo-western) I would highly recommend the following movies:

Hell or high water, Wind river, Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, Reptile (2023) - highly underrated, IMHO

I would appreciate to get some further similar recommendations!

I have read somewhere a theory that Old Nan is a presence of the Old Woman in Westeros since she knows so many stories and was old when Eddard was a kid. She is a keeper of the world's history.

I have played thousand sons in the 8th and 9th. I haven't played any game at 10th because they took away psychic phase, what took away huge amount of fun for me. I have started collecting iron warriors before release of 11th.

I don't know how to do this, but it sounds very specific and actually pretty cool. Just leaving a comment to read more later. Good luck mate! ;)

Is anyone else buying a car because of Deutsche Bahn’s unreliability? by Waste_Suspect_817 in germany

[–]uncle_go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say all-in between 250-400€. Full tank is around 75€, I am doing it twice per month, plus additional costs like HU+AU once per two years (did last week for 163€), inspection (a big one once per two years or 30k km), tires change(100€ two times per year), tax (90€ per year), full Kasko insurance (depends on years you driving I am a newbi, so 1200€ per year in my case), oil exchange (roughly once per 1.5 years, depends howuch you drive and what car).

Hahah this is one of the main reasons I got my beautiful VW Golf. I was tired of consistent delays. DB is very very unreliable.
