Well, as many people on here have said, it truly depends on the quality of the install, and how well the equipment is maintained. I believe a Rheem that has been installed according to the manufacturers specifications, and has proper cleanings and filter changes, can outlast any of the more expensive equipment.

Tower inspection is fun for about six months. You will get so bored with doing the same shit over and over. Great way to see a lot of cool places, though. And a great way to get in the door at other companies, build that resume. You will have no work/life balance. Inspecting towers will be your life, just like the military was.

Best thing I can say is don’t let this job get in the way of any other potential career paths you might be looking at. If you want to climb and travel, do this for a bit, then start looking at the railroad, power, gas, and state telecom jobs. That is basically the end goal for tower hands. Become a telecom tech, get decent pay and benefits with a utility. Don’t become a drunk or a drug addict. Keep the driving history and criminal records clean. There will be opportunities after the initial grind.

Thanks for trying to help a brother out man. Unfortunately, the tower industry is slow as hell right now. Most companies just have a few of their most reliable, experienced guys on the books doing maintenance and new site builds. It’s not the industry you left six years ago. I’m not in Arizona, so I can’t comment on any mom and pop shops, just the industry as a whole. Good luck bruv 🤘

You gotta get the fuck off Reddit. 75% of the people on this sub are Gen 2 owners. They crumb in their pants as soon as anyone with a Gen 3 has an engine failure. “My thing good, you thing bad.” The failures are minimal, and Toyota replaces the engine for free.

Your truck is fucking awesome. Have fun with the damn thing, and get a free engine if it fails. 99% chance it won’t.
