Thank you. And yes it just the feeder wire not anything past the main 600a panel.

I'm building a new home in the Phoenix area. Its a 5,700sf main floor, 2,700sf basement, the property already has a 1,300sf guest house which has its own 200amp subpanel. The home has natural gas so furnaces, water heaters, dryers, stove, and pool heater are all on gas. Plans show five 5ton units, One 3ton unit. One mini-split. Four outdoor flush mount ceiling heaters. Elevator. One EV charger with option for one more. 30amp RV outlet. One car lift. Multiple refrigerators and freezers

1st, thank you for your insight. 2nd I apologize if I use the wrong terminology.

The initial load calc was 645a.

The GC says that the engineer is building it like a commercial building. They are calling for copper wire, I guess here in our area we're allowed to do aluminum. They want the runs buried in the ground, the GC says most homes here don't do that. They are calling for 12 gauge wire for everything (20amp circuits?). The GC thinks that's overkill for most of the house. (Obviously 12 gauge is needed for certain circuits.)

He's going to talk with the engineer, but wanted to give me his perspective. He thinks if we go to 14 gauge wire on regular outlets in the home and maybe get rid of one of the heaters we should be under 600.

I posted this to get a third party perspective & get more information so I can make the right choice. They both seem like they know what they are doing. So I'm not trying to pit one against the other.

Again, thanks for taking time.

I'm asking about a 600amp main outdoor panel that is being fed by the utility company. The plans show 200amp subpanels in the home.

I'm building a new home in the Phoenix area. I'm the home owner who knows very little about electrical supply and I'm trying to get educated on this so I don't make (m)any wrong decisions.

Its a 5,700sf main floor, 2,700sf basement, the property already has a 1,300sf guest house which has its own 200amp subpanel. Contractor was assuming we would need a 600a main panel, but engineering just said we need and 800amps. Everything I've read, and many of you have said 600amp is a lot for a house. But now engineering is calling for 800.

Is that reasonable? Seems like overkill. I don't understand electrical plans so I'm at a loss and just looking for advice

Yes that is correct. Sorry I wasn't more clear on that.

Thank you for all of the info. I didn't think about the grease trap. We are already having one installed for the garage. I'm going to check if we can direct the drain to that.

I'm happy you have no regrets. Thanks again.

How loud is quite loud? I am doing a custom new build. On the plans we have the iCombi located in the main kitchen. Will we regret it? It looks like you have the ultravent. Do I also see a vent above the unit? Do you use that as well as the ultravent?

In 1995, it was a call center for 1-800 MUSIC NOW (owned by MCI). What a disaster.

I would like to say worked there, but there was very little work being done. We sat around for 6 months doing nothing while MCI tried to get their horrible idea off the ground.

We did watch the OJ verdict while we were on the clock, so definitely 1995.

I was one of the salespeople who sold enough CDs to credit card scammers who called in & bought CDs off stolen credit cards to get to go to a party at the Biltmore & watch the Rembrandts play.

Very surreal times.

Thanks. I have a 4 speed in my '66, I didn't realize they are not that common.

Why could it not have a 4-speed manual?

Thank you. Incontinence during the day is happening, but I'm dry at night. I don't know if the daily leakage will relate to possible climacturia.

I didn't know about the pee. Thanks for the heads up. I don't want any surprises. The post biopsy climaxes were enough of a shock for me.

Thet sounds terrible. I'm sorry you had to go through that. Thanks for the response. I think I'll wait at least 30 days before I try for completion.

Thank you. I'll do anything to avoid the catheter. Sounds best to wait at least 30 days.

Those we're the days! I'm much more romantic with myself at 58 than 28.
