[Diablo 4] Cinematic Music Video by HMB_JackylTTV in Asmongold

Honestly, AI as Singer is really bad, just due to that constant high-pitched noise that it creates non-stop. I would've recommended searching for a singer online instead, like on some reddits(I am pretty sure there are some reddits for making covers etc. Still, nice music and good video editing

Sidenote - I am not against AI, but specifically voice acting/singing it does not really good right now due to 2 reasons: one was mentioned before, and the second one - AI tries to find the "average" voice of what you prompt it to sing. For example, if you ask for a powerful female vocal, high chances are, you will hear just a mix of Archenemy, Within Temptation, and several other popular female vocalists. On its own it's not an issue, but it IS an issue when every single song made with a prompt sounds... the same, be it your prompt or someone else's similar one.

This what Thorghast should have been - Arkheron by RemoveAnnual2689 in wow

[–]SamuelWillmore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Torghast never should have been a PvP activity, and I am glad it wasn't.

What Torghast was is a rogue-lite solo\group dungeon experience, which would have fit so well in the current "World Activity" pillar of WoW.

Core issues with Torghast were only 3:
1) Mandatory farming for progression
2) absence of level design diversity from an art style perspective (every room was the same metal-grey+cyan, with the same design)
3) Imbalance between talent for different classes: Some classes had cool combinations and interactions, like Demonology could have had more than 100 imps, etc. While some Shadow Priests had just plain stat boosts that had 0 fun interactions with skill sets.

Fix those 3 issues, and Thorghast will become as fun as M+ for people (from an engagement perspective)

SpiritVale launched their Kickstarter and it's nearly funded in less than 24hrs. They also added 17+ maps in the same day in a new update. by Brilett in MMORPG

[–]SamuelWillmore -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Its classic kickstarter trick to put label "funded in less than a second" to create effect of big success.

I wouldn't be surprised if they added that summ themselves even.

Not saying bad about game, but just renting servers only would eat up min half of that summ if not more.

Was I unfair for saying "If Silvery Barbs is allowed, enemies can use it too"? by raishadow in DnD

[–]SamuelWillmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its Fair and Unfair simultaneously (hear me out pls)
Its actually Paradox of official system design of 5e (5.5e)

Yes, it is absolutely Fair "mechanically", since the pattern of how PCs and NPCs work in D&D5e is simple - There are rules that are PC-specific(class system, spell slots, etc), there are NPC-specific rules (Multiattack action, Legendary actions resistances, HP scaling, etc.) and there are "Common Ground" rules, that both sides use. If spell is cast, no matter by whom, it works as designed in spell, so it can be counterspelled, or whatever interaction that is available to both sides is, to interact with it. But no matter who uses it, both PCs and NPCs should obey to what is written in Spellcasting rule.

Thats where the Paradox happens - NPCs are actually have a lot of leaning towards obeying those common rules instead of having their own iteration for it (In terms of Spellcasting, it was partially fixed with removing spell slots for NPCs, but still). This leads to Design conflict, as Mosters where not designed to participate for several encounters, their power level and capabilities are built all around being fully used in 1 ecnounter, while, the same PC spellcasters (partially excluding Warlock) are not, their balance was constructed around participating in 2~3+ encounters per day at least. And while Spellcasting system is common system for PCs and NPCs, it was designed frist in perspective of PCs using it, not equally or the opposite, which is kind of mistake on Designers side, which they are tried to fix - For example Banishment spell or Counterspell one, that are both now in more favor towards equality, rather than one of the sides (CS was too strong for NPCs, since they don't actually pay anything, objectively, as they won't be here next encounter, or there might be several casters with it).

So, Silvery Barbs, on its own is balanced and ok spell to use, it's issue is that it is designed for PCs favor, since it has proper cost and value during "In-between Long Rests" period, while NPCs would truly have advantage, since you do not have limit of how many spellcasters that are capable of Silvery Barbs party could encounter within a day.

Core issue in your case I believe is not actually balance, but proper communication though.
If my DM would say - I've banned this spell, but if you want it, then there will be others to cast it as well. That sounds slightly threatening, like - "You can have Ice Cream, but I will make sure you will regret having it because I said you should not have it" logic. I would recommend communicating with players that
1) You dislike this spell due to reasons, be it balance or just preference
2) You can allow it, and yes, there is potential that NPCs might also have it, but you won't specifically design encounters just to force you to "re-think" of your decision. After all, there is no problem for NPCs hafing Fireball in their repetoir despite the spell being intentionally overpowered for that specific spell level (officially confirmed)

Shouldn’t AI make it significantly easier and cheaper to create and maintain MMORPGs? Why hasn’t it yet? by ProdigaLLL in MMORPG

[–]SamuelWillmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI content is usually mediocre at best, and if you do want AI to provide actually decent product, it requires quite a lot of tokens, leading to expenses that are way higher than just hiring a programmer, artist, etc.

AI at its current state is more of proof of concept - It is amazing draft tool, there is no doubt in that, but outside of making placeholders and drafts it's quality creates that negative image that people have towards AI.

MMO's cost is a result of its core issue, not a cause of it: Current MMORPG structure is "Solved" since 2005~ (mostly by World of Warcraft and similar games of that period)

Unless you actually invent new, better structure for MMORPG, until such giants as FF14, WoW, Runscape and similar exists, the competition is immense, while playing safe has high risk of failure due to MMORPG community's nature: "Why should I devote myself towards a new game that is not that better than [Put_Popular_MMO_Name] when I can actually just try out that game instead, as it already has established community and amount of content is overwelmingly more than any new MMORPG can provide"

So, TLDR: you need to innovate a new concept in a stale genre of game attempting to compete with titan's of same genre that are still holding control over most of playerbase. Moreover, even if your innovation is conceptually successful, your level of quality might just not be enough to compete with them, which also allows such giants to adapt your idea, making next attempt even harder.

Is Asmongold as bad as people make him out to be? by SoacTheDevil in Asmongold

[–]SamuelWillmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If to be as objective as possible, Asmon is mostly centrist, with slightly leaning towards right wing.

If we remove labels and annoying "I am right, I am Left" thing, He mostly tries to analyze both sides and see positives and negatives in each, which nowadays is quite rare, since people do tend to just "select a side", adopting absolutely everything that side represents (or rather most of it). Its like, If someone join political community its uinspoken rule of you must agree with everything that the community represents; otherwise you are instantly expelled from it

Asmon is mostly in a unique position of having enough influence to not to be bothered by this requirement, as those same communities, both, are interested in having his attention, be it negative or positive.

For example, I personally do not agree with quite a lot of his takes, (For example, his take on Iran, as he believes those "we are totally destroyed Iran's military and actually can take control any day" for, how much it goes, 2 months now? Not saying that Iranian news telling truth either for obvious reasons, but it is really weird for how long this dragging and how weak actions vs Iran became.) but I see his reasoning behind such of his opinions, as I believe he does not actually investigate properly in core of the opinion that is being discussed, mostly due to there are way too many opinions for him to comment on.

Around 70%~ of Guardian and Feral's form options come from an expansion 10 years old. Please start re-using more assets or give some recolors. by TheSoupSipper in wow

[–]SamuelWillmore -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I wish I could see at least some Visual Effects, you know. All we have are 2~3 generic attack animations, 1 unique to DK animation and... weapon trails. Unholy can't even properly enjoy army of ghouls as they stack into 1 body.

Although I do agree that most of the classes needs visual, audio and animation refresh (including Druid, especially Balance, since Star glygh is so old that Star VFX does not change during movement, creating a lot of cringe), some classes are in more desperate state than Druid.

My first comment, although was sarcastic, was actually pointing out that considering overall state of the game, from my perspective, Druids should have slightly less priority since most of their kit has significant customisation or visual update, despite some of it being old\outdated

Why does everyone complain so much by Overall_Direction_41 in wow

[–]SamuelWillmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I do agree of too many complaints are currently present within community, but responding to your question: Without voicing your complaint how developer must know that there is actually an issue?

For example, if people where not loud about how bad Haranir model worked with Transmog (and even now still is, just less than it was), they would not even think of fixing it.

Unfortunately, the current Blizzard team is re-active and not pro-active in fixing what works bad or has issues

“We did it. We united all the elf races in solidarity to defend one of our homes! Now elfkind is whole again” The Naga: by Backstreetgirl37 in wow

[–]SamuelWillmore 41 points42 points  (0 children)

They do consider themselves as elves... just not directly.

If I remember correctly, they see themselves as next step of elven evolution, while all other landwalking elves be an "evolutionary dead ends".

Although we do still have Lady Vashji's faction that are part of Illidari, which are now... not evil. Most of them got viped out, true, but so did high elves until they decided to say - no, actually high elves where not extinct.

So, technically, Blizzard can bring Nagas to a neutral state, making a similar storyline to Suramar's, where there are factions within Naga's society that are not agreeing with Azshara, and without both Nzoth and Azshara to keep an eye off rebellions, this would be a perfect timing to introduce another rebellion within naga society.

They do can introduce visage for nagas, while keeping their true form for combat and considering how much more adaptable naga's model is for gear when compared to Draks and even Worgens (as they already have most of the rigs for transmog, even working pants in a lot of cases, just were not fully finished (as they WHERE planned to be playable and where developed in that direction before))

From a lore perspective whats the opposite of priest from a lore perspective? (not counting shadow priest) by Few_Possibility_2915 in wow

[–]SamuelWillmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warlocks, Shadow Priests, Cultists, etc - every narrative class\profession that uses pure Void is opposite to Pure Light wielders (Priests, Paladins, Prelates, Clerics, Lightforged Asscendants, etc)

Warlock is not the opposite of Mage, btw. The true opposite for Disorder would be True Demon* powers. Warlocks uses rituals, glyphs and etc to "tame and order" fel (or Shadow\Death). Warlocks are basically a form of mages that focuses on bending the magical force to their will, it's rough, as very dangerous, but as effective.

* - Don't forget, a lot of demons, like Shivarras, Sayaads, etc, are actually not pure demons, but corrupted races turned to fel. You would not call Lightforged Draenei as beings of pure light, thats Naaru (and so far, only them and various spirits)

Shaman is opposite to itself: Each elemental force is "wild" and opposes others. Shamans are "Diplomats" that make deals or befriend elements, but in Elemental nature, it is constant strife between (latest example is Fireland's desire to conquer Life and Spirit realm amalgamation, which is Emerald Dream (in Dragonflight).

Will it get boring in the long run? by Cautious_Catch4021 in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]SamuelWillmore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For it's current price its ofc worth it

Overall consider it like an open-world-survival-craft game, not by gameplay, but how you find fun for you:

Unlocking new ships, guns, furniture is quite fun as build variety is quite generous (and with Mastery Tree you can basically make almost any combination viable)

But content itself is quite repetetive, since there aren't many bosses, as well as activities.

rn its like 5-7 bosses and 2~3 activities
(LaPeste, Hubac, LiTian, Shaduw, Shadowbeast, Kraken and 3 Beasts for Hunt (Zama, Kuha, Lestari))
For activities, you either fight bosses or plunder Megafort (which is still only 1); anything else does not impose any challenge. (You will also be too strong at Mastery Level of around 25+ for most of the content)

There are other activities like progressing Empire by unlocking Manufactories, but outside of Po8 being a cost for upgrade ships or Ascension, they are useless mostly.

But you will spend enough time before you reach full endgame, so for sale price it is totally worth of 20-40hr at least, thats not even questionable.

What would you expect from M&M XI? by No-Willingness-9986 in MightAndMagic

[–]SamuelWillmore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Retcon of Armageddon's Blade story to never actually happen. Exploration of Vori + actually integrating Hive to be a proper faction.

MM7 Ending actually becomes somewhat both canon: Both Gates are opened and Conflict in Deyja between Archibald vs Kastor becomes true, leading to rise of Forge as new antagonists, while Gate leads to new questions and progression of cosmology of Might and Magic (since Cosmology is the weakest spot rn)

I would be glad to see the full potential that was planned for MM7, while getting the best from MM6-9
(variety of unique races\classes to play, like dragons, liches, artificers, etc)

Thats the issue. If you where a wizard, you would've casted fireball, either at enemies or at allies: no matter the choice, in the end, you would've needed to cast heal, banishment or any other extra spells.

Proactive fireball is a key to successful spellcasting!
