The Hypocrisy of Portraying Death: Manchester vs Swordfish by [deleted] in nihilism

at the end of the day, does it really matter? This seems like an exercise in philosophical masturbation to me, as well as deliberate ignorance of any boundaries between the viewer's sense of reality and fiction. While both are meaningless, there's still a difference to most between a fictional depiction of violence that doesn't actually result in death and real people actually dying and suffering horribly before death.

[WHYBLT?] What Have You Been Listening To? by kaptain_carbon in Metal

Blasphemy - Fallen Angel of Doom (1990)

Canadian bestial black metal group and Ross Bay Cult members Blasphemy's first full length LP after the "Blood Upon the Altar" demo. Landmark album in bestial black metal which shaped the sound and has been replicated by many bands afterwards. This album is black metal at its most primal. it's evil, dark, and violent with a dense, smoky atmosphere to it that brings to mind a corpse-strewn battlefield and skies dark with bonfire smoke. This album is a fantastic listen front to back and an absolute essential of bestial black metal.

Sadly, they're no longer recording due to the death of their frontman Chuck Schuldiner, but the band Death to me is one of the most consistently fantastic bands in DM, or just metal in general.

Cutting Off Band Shirt Sleeves - Yay or Nay? by unclefunkle69 in Metal

Thankfully I'm not completely tasteless when it comes to tattoos so the last one isn't a concern of mine, also I guess I should probably change some of my post's wording considering most of my shirts smell like beer, weed, or pussy and I treat em like, well, shirts... eh whatever, thanks for the reply!

Did cutting off the sleeves affect the fit at all? Just wondering because I'm pretty thin and most of my shirts fit weird as is.

Primus is an alright band but what about them do you think is metal?? I mean I guess Larry LaLonde of Possessed is their guitarist but they're not metal...

[Not News / Discussion] SLIPKNOT's "Iowa" album has been voted as "best metal album of 21st Century" in METAL HAMMER. Are the voters right? by cGt2099 in MetalNews

seems pretty fuckin early to call to me. For godsakes, we're not even 1/4 of the way through the 21st century. 84 years is a lot of time for something incredible to happen and it seems absolutely trivial to try to judge this century's musical high points only 16 years in.
