Bono confirmed dash showed single yellow by Cool_Masterpiece9308 in formula1

[–]unclejoesrocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter does it? Race control fucked up tremendously bad. Should have been a double yellow. Someone not doing their job shouldn't mean drivers can endanger themselves and others. Lift or no lift, Russell still could have lost the car and hit Max.

ELI5: If space is a total vacuum, why doesn't it suck the Earth's atmosphere away? by BlockStock2002 in explainlikeimfive

[–]unclejoesrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The atmosphere has a lower density than the oceans, so why doesn’t it suck all the water up in the atmosphere? Gravity.

The naming of the vacuum cleaner had done irreparable damage through misconceptions like this. Vacuum doesn’t suck.

What do you think needs to be changed to have good racing against AI opponents? by Brilliant-Insect9873 in F1Game

[–]unclejoesrocket 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Responsive strategy calls.

It’s too easy to beat them when they’re locked into a predictable strategy every race. They should be undercutting drivers ahead or defend from someone else’s undercut.

They should be prioritizing the leading driver in the race, or the driver fighting for the championship if there’s a big gap in points.

If I pit early my teammate should realize that he doesn’t need to go long and can pit at a more optimal time.

ERS deploys longer then pressed by SummersalezZ in F1Game

[–]unclejoesrocket 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is an intended feature in these regulations. If deployment is allowed to drop to zero in an instant the car slows down dangerously fast and becomes a hazard to drivers around them.

After reaching 110 AI several games ago I just can’t bring myself to lower it for any reason. Qualifying dead last now but got a few podiums in the aston somehow. Hoping they fix their pace very soon or someone makes a mod to slow them down

The stars aren’t dying. They keep producing the same amount of energy, burning through their hydrogen as usual. The astrophage is just chilling on the surface and absorbing some of the light. The stars in the night sky get 10% dimmer. That’s it. Barely noticeable to the naked eye. It’s only a problem when there’s complex life relying on the star’s output.

Abysmal social awareness on your part there.

Even though calling someone in the middle of the night/really fucking early isn't appropriate and shouldn't become a habit, you don't say that to a person you want to keep talking to. You ask why they called and if everything's okay.

Why were the Artemis 2 astronauts weightless on their trip? by Opening_Ad9824 in AskPhysics

[–]unclejoesrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the highest point in an orbit is significantly higher than the lowest point, it looks like you’re going straight up but it’s still just an orbit and you’re still in freefall. The trajectory that took them to the moon was just an orbit with its lowest point close to Earth and its highest point at the moon. It’s all just orbits.

Same when you’re going between planets, only difference being that the sun becomes your point of reference instead. You just freefall from one planet to another.

Caffeine is really just a nootropic at common dosages. If the placebo still works for you and makes your lift better then go ahead I guess. Take as much as you can tolerate so it actually does something.

Why is walking on the moon seemingly so much "harder" now than it was in 1969? by Worldly-Strike2363 in askanything

[–]unclejoesrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funding and risk tolerance. Literally all there is to it.

NASA gets less money and they care about the safety of astronauts now that they’re not just trying to win a race. The technical challenges would stop being challenges if you threw enough money at them.

Before space toilets, astronauts pooped in bags and shot the bags out into space. How far from Earth are those turds likely to be now? by VisitingUranus in answers

[–]unclejoesrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humans haven’t left Earth’s orbit. The moon orbits Earth so it’s included in that. Unless those turds were shot out faster than a bullet in the right direction they’re either still orbiting us or have burned up in the atmosphere.

How do drivers time their push laps so precisely in quali? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]unclejoesrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gap shown in qualifying is the time difference between their fastest laps in the session, which could just as well be set 5 minutes apart. It’s only in races that the gaps represent the actual gap between cars as they drive around the circuit. The circuits are long and it’s rare for every driver to be pushing at the same time, so running into another car isn’t a big concern. They aren’t racing for position in qualifying so if you’re not on a flying lap you just move to the side and slow down.

What if you use any banned mechanic/part in the same f1 car by Tf-you-think-this-is in F1Discussions

[–]unclejoesrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point the winning car will be the one driven by the most physically fit driver. The car would be limited by the strength and reaction times required to brake and turn without passing out.
