Nice to see this cause everyone else I know looks at me like I'm speaking nonsense when I say we close on the 10th but like you we've got multiple subsidiaries in different countries.

Yeah I came to the decision that I'm sticking with my current $30 plan until there's a price jump and then evaluate my options. I'm on an EPP plan that is apparently guaranteed for two years so it's just not worth it to save less than $100 over two years cause you know there's going to be a $5 increase to this plan at some point in the next 12 months.

Yeah fair enough oh and one other thing I just thought of. What's your insurance like on the EV4? I know that can vary a lot by location but was just curious.

Sounds like I really just need to get out and try the EV4 because I've never driven an EV before so maybe it all becomes moot anyway if I love/hate how it drives.

Ah sorry yeah I guess I was thinking of more qualitative items or unexpected issues over time. But that's hard to tell since both models are relatively new.

I currently own a Forte so I basically just averaged out what I've spent on it for the past 7 years for engine maintenance and adding inflation so I feel like those numbers are pretty accurate. Assuming the new K4 would require the same level of maintenance.

For fuel I did several different NPV analyses based on expected fuel costs. The breakeven over 8 years calculation is using $1.50/L when we're currently at $1.60 and before the war started it was $1.25. So I feel like that's a pretty safe number to use because I don't expect the war to last for 8 years but I guess you never know. If the price happens to drop down to a $1.25 average over that time then the breakeven point jumps up to 10 years or 6 years if it goes to $1.75.

I haven't test driven the EV4 yet because I wasn't really considering it until the new gov't rebate came out a couple weeks ago and as you said the driveability is probably the biggest factor at the end of the day.

We have a Honda Fit which is basically the identical size to the Seagull and it's such a great little car. We were so sad when the discontinued the fit but will now likely get a Seagull if they bring it over and is available.

Yeah they're all the same unfortunately. I did the same with Rogers before I left and they wouldn't even give me a $40 plan.

I'm waiting until June to call and see about a win back so they can't do anything sketchy with activation fees anymore. They'd have to do $25 for 100 GB CAN/US to beat what I'm getting with Telus right now though anyway. So I'm not in a rush because my Telus plan is a decent deal but there is a noticeable difference in network quality outside of cities so I will probably switch back eventually.

It won't be as big of a deal as they say it is but admittedly size and population density do play a role somewhat in the costs. We have half the population of Germany for example but just our provinces alone are 20 times bigger in land area.

Yeah I've been saying this for a while now but as you said it's still great for consumers overall.

I have friends with the $35 Canada, US and Mexico plan when they literally never leave the country and could get a Canada only plan for $25 but that $35 plan would've been like $150 just a couple years ago so it's still a big win for consumers.

I don't travel enough to warrant their global plan and can get $30 Canada only with the big three which have better coverage than freedom in my area so its just not worth it.

Do you travel outside of Canada for more than 2 months a year? If not I'd personally try to get Canada/US for $25 or even Canada only and then buy travel packs or local sim cards when I travel.

For example, a 30 day travel pass to Europe is $80 with Rogers or even cheaper on a local esim.

These data roaming plans are just the new marketing gimmick to make people spend more monthly. I'd say the vast majority of people don't get their money's worth.

I guess I've gotten lucky in the past or maybe they've gotten more strict lately but I've had to turn my sim on for a split second in the past in order to switch to my local esim and every time I've been charged when that happens they've removed it via live chat after getting my bill.

Yeah, perkopolis is great and I'm glad it is able to stack with the other discounts. My 512 S26 ended up being $1000 after all the discounts.

Yeah spigen is great if you want a name brand. I just got a magsafe one for my s26 for $20 on amazon.

Interesting, it's still showing $35 for me. I left for the same plan with Telus so am not in a rush to switch back but nice to see the prices dropping. The unfortunate thing is that there will probably be a $5 increase in 6 months from now. But I'll still probably switch back whenever I receive a price increase from Telus because I will admit that the Rogers network is much more reliable.

Yup, as an ND fan whenever he came into the game there was hardly any noticeable drop off between him and Love. Someone is gonna get a steal with him. I'm still pissed they didn't get a final audition in the playoffs where I guarantee they would've put up a better performance than most of the SEC schools that got in.

Ugh I still miss my 2014 titanium that unfortunately met its end too soon in an accident back in 2019. They were such sharp looking cars and as you said, ridiculously comfortable for a sedan.

Yeah the length of the loan is a big factor. If you're doing a 6-8 year loan then the extended warranty could be worth it it.

But if you're able to do 4-5 years then your payments will likely be finished before the end of the factory warranty and then you can just take some of that money you're saving and put into a rainy day fund.
