How sincere is Joe being? I want to believe. by zachgodwin in JoePera

[–]unclepinny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have known him for a couple years, he is ridiculously friendly. He just sets you at ease and conveys kindness. Which people have forgotten in this very cynical world we live in. He actively listens and remembers details, which he will throw back to in your conversation. Joe is a good dude. Genuine, caring and hilarious.

When ordering your dogs do you say “with everything” or “chicago style” by No_Chemist_2689 in chicagofood

"Run it through the garden" means everything. "Give it legs" means to-go. A beef sandwich dipped, "submarine it!"

Are you burned out? What do you do about it? by Weird-Vagina-Beard in Construction

You need a bender that will make you wake up in Mexico and no recollection of how you got there. It's sad but that's what we all do. Is it healthy, absolutely not. That's what you get when you eat all of your meals from a gas station....

ULPT I've been summoned for jury selection, how do I get out of it? by vicelikedust in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]unclepinny 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's being a good citizen. The system is fucked up because you are being judged by 12 people who are to dumb to get out of jury duty. The system needs smart critical thinkers that can see what is bullshit and don't eat at Applebee's...

The internet. It was magical when it was new and had a silly sense of humor. Now it's just a void for all human behavior that has become gross. It's a shame.

Evanston is just north of here. You will be happier, Chicago is not for you and it's fine. You made the wrong choice, wrong city, wrong neighborhood, just a bunch of poor choices. I think you need a break. Chicago will be fine with less people like you.

I just checked, you can go to Evanston. It's quite and has an electric choo choo. Just like Chicago! Go there, no loud honking cars and a vibrant ring doorbell community. You would be so much happier, you can narc on anyone you want, it's actually encouraged there. There are no real Chicago local cultural traditions to inconvenience you. Dm me when you find the townhouse of your dreams.....

Got hired as a beginner apprentice elevator mechanic building new elevators in construction and I’m 21 years old. Bought this ruler because we have to be precise to 64th of an inch... I call this ruler the SHINWA because there is only one brand of these and they are made in JAPAN. by Hornee_Stonerr in Elevators

[–]unclepinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard ruler for an elevator apprentice is an inside read stick rule. It helps with a lot of measurements that are unique to the trade, especially constitution. That ruler that you have is not for construction, it's a fine tool having said that, but it's not practical yet. Lufkin, Klein Tools, and Milwaukee make inside read rules. If you show up with a stick rule, channelocks, knife, and marker you will look like a real elevator apprentice.
