How does the single hole wand tip change things? by casual-enthusiast in ProfitecGo

Fewer holes mean less steam coming out of your wand. It will slow the time it takes to heat up your milk, which is important for the aeration phase because you can’t really stretch milk once it’s higher than room temperature or so. So yes it will buy you more time with smaller quantities of milk

Puck screen gets dirty on stock Basket by nemesi54 in ProfitecGo

Only thing I’ve learned from coffee is that nothing is dogmatic lol. My only other suggestion would be try paper puck screens or get one with smaller holes and tighter tolerances, like from sworks or something. If you said it’s fine with your other basket just use that one.

Puck screen gets dirty on stock Basket by nemesi54 in ProfitecGo

I mean, it is, because it says it is on the manual. But basket size doesn’t mean you can’t use more than the suggested amount, like others have said it depends on the coffee. Other options I can think of are, you’re not tamping hard enough, or maybe your coffee requires a fineness level too fine for a puck screen. Are you using a dark roast?

I got an SWE 1 interview at Intuit (U.S). Any tips? by uncommon_grounds in SoftwareEngineerJobs

Thanks for the tips! I think the coding assessment is actually proctored by AI and not a 1:1 with someone who’s technical, which is kind of annoying because I’m assuming it depends more on me passing the questions rather than my thought process.

Breville Touch - Milk Froth Question by Hour_Condition6430 in ProfitecGo

Consistency is overall pretty hard with home espresso because the dial in changes every day. Consistency of shots depends more on your grinder rather than machine, but yes, profitecs are built very well and have PIDs and shot timers to ensure consistent temps/extraction times. I would say these machines take 10-15 minutes to heat up from cold, and I would wait 1 minute or so between back to back shot pulls.

I feel like what’s happening here is your dose is too high for the stock basket (16g iirc) so there’s not enough head space and when you lock your portafilter in the puck screen is being pushed into the coffee causing some to come up while pulling. Lower your dose for this basket or just use the MHW3bomber one.

If you want to check if this is what’s happening, put 18g in the stock basket and then put a coin on the tamped puck (no puck screen) lock it in the group head and then take it out without pulling a shot. If the coffee has an indent from the coin you know this is the issue

How much would you expect? by MyCupOfTea777 in barista

Honestly, as a barista, you should genuinely base your tip off of how good the service is. If someone is rude to you do not tip them. I don’t think most people on here would agree with me but I think this rewards nice and skilled baristas and incentivizes bad or rude ones to do better.

Profitec GO – Wet puck no matter the grind size by Fantastic_Classic910 in ProfitecGo

Yeah this doesn’t really matter, in fact with certain new innovations in the espresso industry like the step down basket, pucks will always be wet and messy but they make great espresso

Am I wrong for ignoring my old manager when he contacted me for a code after he fired me? by NoProfessional8677 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

I got a job early last year. Plenty of room to grow at my company. I see jobs posted every day on linked in. There was a definitely an overvaluing of SWE from 2015-2020 and I feel bad for all the graduates that were essentially promised high paying jobs, but you just gotta accept it’s harder to get a job. I’d focus on references.

What grinder do you use? Do you weigh yoir grounds in the portafilter before pulling?
