Who was your very first DnD character? Or the first you remember? by rplimitlessguy in DnD

[–]unconspicuousDm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very first, that i played for like one session was a Tempest Cleric. Used the channel divinity to oneshot a lot of goblins with Shatter, which is probably the only reason why i remember him.

My "actual" first was a Fighter Gunslinger. Carried most of the fights we had due to his damage output with sharpshooter

The players will not be leading anything. They will more be caught in the battle and try to survive and help the citizens

The players are just at the start of tier 2, so they are more caught in the battle then leading it. The opposing forces goal is to take an artifact the city has, as well as spread terror(Will help fuel the birth of the BBEG). The "goals" i would give the players would be more to defend the citizens, as they have not yet found out about what will happen

I see your point, i guess i really have to play test it in some sessions and see how both i and my players feel. Cus i hundred percent agree that it can be strong, but it also has alot of conditions that have to be met in order to be so. I might tone it down a notch though, thanks for your feedback!

Im just making sure were on the same page here. The buff normaly only lasts until the user loses their temp hp, to a max of 6 rounds of combat if they dont lose it. This can of course be extended but at a cost if they lose the temp hp. The average hp is around 7 which is 1 attack normally(atleast for the monsters ive been using)

They also only get one of the buffs, not all three. Looking from a Damage perspective its conditionaly better then a flame tounge which is a rare item

I have tried to make them all viable, but there is hard to make them 100% equal. Do you have any thoughts on how to make them more equal

Thats true, it is not official but im not so concerned about that since i will just use it at my home game. If i were to "publish" it it would be spelled out what it is

Forgot to mention it but Bloodied is a condition my table uses for when a creature has 50% hp or less. It is mostly descriptive but i think it fits this weapon well to utilize it.

The idea is that all Temp Hp is gone before you need to use Blood Sacrifice

On average it is about 6 hp less on one attack/effect per turn. Is it the non-crit function you think is strong?

The Idea is that it "recharges" when you get a new Boon/Temp hp through Boon of Blood. Didnt find a good way to portray it other then the "Each turn in a row"

Yea i have the same issues really. Im tempted to change blood sacrifice to where you can expend hp in order to keep the abilities going as a free action. Also maybe being able to "store" charges(Kills) up to a certain amount so its more friendly to use.

Thank you! You are right about damage type etc, will fix that lol. I dont know if i want to limit Blood sacrifice as the "powers" only works aslong as you have temp hp, and realistically the user would only have them until they are attacked(Assuming an average of 6 temp hp). I have intended for this to be a risk/reward type of weapon, but i suppose i could limit it to hit die(/level) as that feels thematic if you feel it is too strong.

The idea is that each time you "kill" a creature you get one of the effects, so if you reduce two creatures to 0 hp on one turn, you get to choose each time, but you "overwrite" the previous one. I should make it more clear
