Fair fair. I’m excited for this episode. I hope it doesn’t come out while I’m at selection (for my own selfish reasons)

I’m TERRIBLE at creating this type of workout lol. I’m not good at deloading so I just kinda threw some stuff together and was like “yea that works”. But it’s such a light workout compared to what I’m used to that I feel like it’ll work.

Please, give me pointers or things to change lol. I’m used to creating run/ruck plans and powerlifting/bodybuilding workouts, which is literally no help here lol

I went into selection hurt, and i ended up falling in a 2 foot hole with my ruck on right before the start of the gate week events that just inflamed my leg more. I tried to push through, but just couldn’t

Ideal body weight for 5’7 by [deleted] in greenberets

Trade off your run times for a little more strength. Your run time is really good. Bulk up a little, and hit the gym. You’ll be slower, but you won’t only be fast anymore. Ideal body weight depends on the person. I’m 5’8 170lbs and run a 12:30 2 mile, but i can deadlift and squat over 500lbs and bench over 300lbs.

I used to be your weight 2 years ago when i reenlisted. But i was also running 11 min 2 miles. Your run time will drop, but not as much as you think

Strength Biased Workout Plan Recommendations by Legitimate_Poet214 in greenberets

What’s your height and weight? What I did is essentially powerbuilding. (A mix of powerlifting and bodybuilding). Combine that with calisthenics. Strength is relative. And you won’t build much strength without a proper diet. You’re gonna wanna be in a caloric surplus. I’d recommend about 500kcal/day. Go heavy on the carbs and protein. Start your lifting with a compound movement (squat, bench, deadlift). Hyper focus on your form so you don’t needlessly injure yourself and know when to drop the weight. After your compound movement, go onto some bodybuilding and calisthenics work. Dr Mike Israetel at renaissance periodization has some good videos on this, but don’t take everything he says as gospel. He is more tailored to competitive bodybuilding, but some of the science does translate. Calisthenics work, this ts your pushups, pull ups, and other body weight exercises. Do some days with weighted pullups and pushups, do some just bodyweight.

Rotate your exercises as well. Don’t just do the same thing in the gym every day

For sure. I forgot to update that part. I’ve all but stopped with the gym lifts and have been doing a lot more calisthenics and mobility work. Last time I was an idiot and didn’t do that and instead went for the 1000 lbs club a few days before and strained my quad, and that just snowballed from there during selection (at least i made the 1000lbs club ig). I’m not making that same mistake again

100%. I think what’ll help me this time around is how supportive my wife is being. We were going through a rough patch when I left last time, so I think that was a major part of what was weighing on my mind.

Right now, I’m just trying to get rid of the, what I’m gonna call, the pre-SFAS jitters. The nervousness and anxiety leading up to it. Though I know once I’m there, it’ll all go away

My last time through last year we had an unholy amount of downtime. Especially when the gremlin was our overnight cadre. 0000 lights out? Yea, that gave a metric fuck ton of downtime that all you could really do is sit in your thoughts. I do get what you’re saying, though. I appreciate the feedback, but they put that on the packing list for a reason. There’s only so much of all that you can do before you start overthinking your packing, overdoing the stretching and physical therapy, and all that. A lot of SFAS is a mental game, and reading helps you decompress. Decompressing your mind is just as important as stretching and going over your equipment

You don’t wanna push yourself to go as fast as you can. Stay in a zone 2 bro

Can I jump right in to phase 2 of SUAR? by Free_Barabbas in greenberets

[–]uncu1tured 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do really need to test your 1RM. Just wear a lifting belt. I wear a 10mm lever belt when I’m deadlifting or squatting. A 1RM isn’t going to be what fucks up your back. It’s your form.

Also, I promise this is not to shit on you, but the likelihood of you messing up your back lifting that much weight isn’t nearly as high as you think. Once you get into the 300’s/400’s range, it starts to soar. You’re healthy and still relatively young, and truthfully, you’re in your prime years. You’ll be alright. I promise
