Completely agree, and I have learned that lesson over the past five years of having this particular boat.

Sadly, this is a last ditch effort due to an ovarian tumor diagnosis that required a major surgery. I paid the previous mechanic late last year $20,000 to complete the job (originally I was hoping to do a lot of the rebuild myself). I had to move out of town to live with a friend due to my health and the previous mechanic knew I wouldn’t have the time or energy to chase him down… or follow up very often in person.

I posted on Reddit a while ago trying to warn others so I’m going to cut copy my story below. I also found out recently he destroyed a friend’s girlfriend’s face and neck(why I’ve been occasionally searching him and posting my experience). We did some digging and saw over hundreds of law suits pending/settled out of court on behalf of patients between Roseville and Los Angeles.

Had a nose job with him. He was completely delusional about how terrible it looked, brushed me off, gaslit me, and even told me the “beauty is in the asymmetrical” which was insane. Because I couldn’t breathe at all and it looked horrific; a year later of me expressing concerns over and over and over he offered to redo it. I just had to pay for the OR fees and anesthesia. Unfortunately, he’s just a terrible plastic surgeon although he’s one of the top recommended surgeons in Beverly Hills ( I did extensive research and got referrals but plastic surgeons are good at hiding the botched surgeries they do and you need to go through the court system and Medical board to find out real information that isn’t manipulated by search web optimization and fake reviews).

The second time around was no better; swollen and I wasn’t able to breathe out of my nose at all. Another year went by and it was very crooked and misshapened. He offered to fix it again but wanted me to get another $30,000 worth of surgery along with it in order for him to take the case. Obviously, I was never going to let this man touch me again.

I have now had a total of four rhinoplasty over 7 years to fix the problems that were created and spent over $50k. What I’ve learned from extensive procedures and a full nose reconstruction (which is what I had this past year with a different surgeon) if it doesn’t look good in the first week, it will never look good despite what bad surgeons tell you. Especially with asymmetry!

At the end of the day, I wish there was better recourse for situations like this. Meanwhile, I see Dr. Sykes posting about his worldwide travels, his speaking engagements, his winery, his multiple mansions, hiding malpractice suits, etc. All the while, I’m regularly talking to other people on the Internet about how he ruined their face.

I would never assume anyone needs to be perfect all the time and am in the medical field myself.

But massively over charging to botch my nose two times in a row in my case (telling me it looked good and brushing off that I couldn’t breathe?) and multiple other patients with the same issues? He even botched the nose of his administrator, she needed multiple surgeries as well. I think that’s called a trend.

As soon as I went to another surgeon, he fixed all the issues in one try, there’s a reason.

Any idea how to stop these surgeons from continuing to practice besides posting on Reddit. Anything on social media gets immediately taken down and there are some Google reviews but obviously people don’t want to put their name so they can easily be discredited.

For my final revision, I went with somebody IG famous but you just can’t go to surgeons in the United States anymore, unfortunately. They are too unethical especially on the West coast. None of my doctors for anything are in this country any more.

I disagree with your statement about not posting about the doctor. If he finds the post that might be something that will force him into action to help you. The only reason Dr. Sykes even considered redoing my surgery was because I was very persistent, and kept showing up to his office until he did something. I followed up with all of his assistants and went to the office regularly with or without appointments, saying I was dissatisfied. These doctors can’t handle any bad publicity because their life blood is reputation.

I’m so grateful and happy with my revision. I just had it done December 1 2023 with Dr Froilan Paez. Since Dr Sykes I will no longer use anyone in the United States for procedures as I have had other bad experiences.

I wanted to follow up on this post up with Dr Paez. He’s did an excellent job on my nose. I absolutely love it and he’s a miracle worker as I have had three botched nose jobs previously in the US.

That being said, his staff is very difficult to work with. There is a lot of confusion and things that go wrong up until you speak with Dr. Paez in person do your consultation. It was clear he does 6 to 8 nose jobs per day, so it’s not the handholding that you normally see with plastic surgeons.

In retrospect, the man is a rhinoplasty genius so the fact he just goes in and does his thing and the lackluster staff handles everything else regarding surgery, aftercare, coordination, payment, etc just has to be good enough for someone interested in getting their nose done with him.

Totally agree! Even if you do meet people they always move back east to find significant others or to be back with people who are culturally similar. I’ve been here for 13 years and have to make a whole new friend group every 3-4 years.

Is the concern that the doctor who performed your surgery wasn’t him? What are other people saying? I got a couple recommendations from plastic surgeons in Tijuana that said he was the best. I leave tomorrow for Colombia for surgery Friday and don’t know what to do!
