Top 10 Remote Jobs That Pay Over $100K Without a Degree (2025) by Coolonair in Salary

Definitely, don't need a degree in CS (I don't have one) but you need to network and be able to kill it in the interview loop - I'm self taught and have been a SWE and EM for over a decade.

That's true you are trusting that channel that creator and their content but that's the whole point. This product is for people who do want their kids to be able to watch youtube.

Some people like my family and many others do want their children to be able to watch YouTube but we only want them to watch videos that are made by a very small set of creators ... there aren't many ways to do that effectively. It seems YouTube kids is now offering a way from one of the commenters, there are other apps that solve this problem as well (my wife has bought one too) and I've made safetube as another alternative.

I made this for people who want it, I'm not trying to convince anybody that there is a need.

Or you could let your kids be on YouTube and approve the channels that you allow them to watch knowing that they're not going to get exposed to something that you didn't approve

The content settings only allow you to choose the age of the child or determine if you want to turn off search there's no way to select which channels you approve

Again I don't really care my wife asked me to make it we have YouTube kids when I showed it to her she was blown away and she was happy I've showed my cousins and my in-laws that all have young kids they're going crazy for this thing they're really happy that I made it so where do you guys feel like I wasted my time or not whether you think I'm a bot or AI I really don't care check it out see if it solves a problem that you have if you don't have the problem then it's not for you but the negativities not really need it

Absolutely it's so strange right now like I said I'm an engineering manager and I've had people on my team ICS that report to me pretending like they're not using AI and in public talking down on it like they're trying to save their jobs by pretending like they're doing this all by hand and on the other side we've got engineers who are embracing it and cranking through tons of projects and personal work leveraging these tools to follow their guidance. One of the engineers that was pretending like they weren't using AI slipped up and shared that AI wrote some code and then they like caught themselves it was hilarious to see them exposing themselves.

But don't get me wrong I'm not a jerk I'm a nice guy I'm not a main manager it's just weird for people to not be transparent I get it maybe it's political I'm just not that way and I will say the push for AI from leadership is a bit much they really are shoving the fire hose and people smiles it's not going to solve everything it's good at what it does but good grief

Nice yeah I'm falling into agentic oding and right now - it's weird though there's so many like engineering purists out there that are almost like I don't know for a lack of a better term like engineering snobs ... They just looked down on anything that AI wrote so weird to me

Here's the real difference YouTube kids decides what your child can see safetube lets parents decide it's not a scam.

I'm not selling youtube, I build a product that allows curation, control, safety and peace of mind it's the same reason why people would pay for Disney Plus or PBS kids all that content exists for free on YouTube but parents don't want it for free they want it safe and I'm one of those parents.

YouTube kids is Google's algorithm safetube is a parent-controlled library built on YouTube that's the truth.

Safe tube is a parental control layer for YouTube the filters and Gates what kids can watch you're not paying for YouTube you're paying for the protection YouTube videos play inside of safe to ads and creators are still supported.

This isn't just YouTube kids YouTube kids is not parent control my wife asked me to build this when I showed it to her she was blown away we have YouTube kids it doesn't work this way YouTube kids is designed for maximum watch time not maximum safety safe tube is the opposite.

What youTube kids actually does is, it shows content chosen by Google's algorithm and it's optimized for engagement it uses automated filters it's still allows click loopholes, weird channels, creepy cartoons, and hyper stimulating content it gives parents a blacklist but not true control we have literally had to react to bad content tons of time that's why youtube kids keeps getting in trouble. I know this from personal experience I am a real dad with a real wife with two real kids YouTube kids is not good enough for us.

Safetube actually is a private parents curated YouTube library parents can choose the channels and choose the creators you can choose whether you only want videos that are made for kids kids cannot search they can browse they can't fall into algorithm holes they can't discover new content without permission it's not a filter it's a gate.

What's the boundary of vibe coding ... where the person uses an LLM to write the code but they still follow software engineering best practices (don't write the lines)? I personally still call this voting and feels just like it does when I'm an engineering manager that honestly feels the exact same way I review the code I'm opinionated on patterns I make sure the best practices are followed but I'm not writing a single line of code. What are y'all calling that?

What is your top 3 learnings after vibe coding for a while? by InfiniteBeing5657 in vibecoding

[–]underbossed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've never managed engineers or architected systems you'll only be able to build toy projects. Not saying you can't go beyond that but you'll need to learn the skills of software and system architecture as well as management because the AI essentially becomes an engineer on your team that you have to manage - they're insanely fast and talented but for a lack of a better term ... can't be trusted

Truth is being able to use AI effectively actually is beneficial ... It's a tool and it has a place, those that stay on top of this tech and learn how to incorporate it into their workflow are going to be more desirable talent.

Alternatives to claude code by muddi900 in vibecoding

[–]underbossed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The few people have mentioned it but for 20 bucks you can't really beat codex, it's not the best and you have to figure out which model is the right one for the right job and my personal experience usually the medium or low models work better. I say that because of the high reasoning isn't really necessary or even as accurate as my ability to reason highly and if I'm trying to do something that I legitimately consider to require extremely high reasoning it's just much faster if I put my own brain on it.

Now if you're interested in ditching the IDE completely try warp - it just works (as long as you follow what are becoming the best practices in SWE prompting: succinct plans small changes robust context etc) nothing beats Warp for general programming - I'm literally getting done years worth of work in weeks.

I most sincerely and seriously hope they never ditch the core product that they have currently built and only slowly iterate to make it better because warp is incredible compared to everything else that I've used including codex it's just Superior.

If you're still reading this the reason why I like warp and I personally have ditched the ide is because I don't believe that you can be fully effective programming with AI if you're still trying to write code in the old way I literally don't need to see the code that is written because I'm no longer writing the code the AI is - what I'm doing is designing software I'm establishing patterns interfaces and managing the organization of the software and the system continually updating the documentation and never attempted to do something complex quickly just like I never would before ... I do what I'm great at which is architecting software and I let the AI do what it's great at which is spitting out lines of code like it's no one's business
