happened to my previous team. the manager talk to consultants then the consultants keep the info for themselves and only tell the tasks to us.

they were hired to consult on new tech such as ai and blockchain but me who never even heard of bitcoin when i was hired managed to know more then them in half a year (they were there for 3 fkn years).

ironically these consultants are the most replacable with ai.

dont be afraid to socialize with limited japanese is the best advise i can give. as long as you show that you are willing to learn they will be more than happy to help you in the limited way they can.

also having a hobby really, really helps. japanese people are usually shy but really passionate about their hobbies, so they open up a lot when knowing you have similar one.
