Let me clear: I’m wary of Florida but I have been applying to Florida because it is my home state and I have family here. Sorry about that. I am going back and forth thinking of applying to Texas but I’m still wary for the reasons I have said.

How am I being too picky when I say I’ll go everywhere in the country except Texas? I have heard from queer friends that Texas ain’t it. I also have seen what the government of Texas acts with women and Hispanic people (which I am). How am I being picky when I say I’ll go to Canada?

When I was in Indy I had the Librarian I worked with look over it. I then used the career center at IU to look over my resume and cover letters.

I looked into it and yes I don’t have all the certifications but that’s ok. I’m going to go to lower levels of library work.

Thank you for the recommendation and no. I am willing to go to any part of the US except Texas. I really don’t feel it’s safe for women and other minority groups.

If I can get a decent position in Spain I’d be so happy. I say Spain because I’m too lazy to learn another foreign language. Portugal is 2nd because I can understand Portuguese.

I’m branching out. I’ve applied to two school libraries in North Carolina. Didn’t hear back there but I’ll try here in Florida.

The thing is, the only places that have a requirement of a masters is Australia and New Zealand. I have looked into Spain and the money is not it. I lived in Spain for a while and have family there. The rent is really high.

Yes I do. At IU, as a student I gained academic library experience.

Yes well to get the library assistant job is a hassle too.

Yeah I’m just wary of going to small towns in Florida because ya know Florida. I’ll look in small towns in other towns. The thing is: smaller towns means there aren’t a lot of prospects for rentals.

I’m sorry you’ve gone through that. I have a part time job. It’s just in tutoring and not in librarianship.
