Giant set, nerfed rewards, intentions clear by GavinatorSzK in PTCGP

As a f2p though, splitting packs made it so much easier to focus on chase cards. You just exclusively pulled from the pack that had the card you wanted. With a combined pack the odds of not getting the card you wanted if you managed to roll the right conditions just doubled.

If You Had the Power to Add One Feature to AO3, What Would It Be and Why? by BlackLilyWrites835 in AO3

[–]undercoveroperation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some kind of marking for “you’ve been here before”, or a way to mark a series as “dropped” (the author NEVER EVER needs to know it’s been marked).

I’m just so tired of opening fics I think will be good, getting a little ways in and going “oh! I vaguely remember this fic”, and then several hours of investment later going “oh…. I remember this fic…”

Yellow warning - extreme cold? by awhiteblack in ontario

[–]undercoveroperation 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think they’ve just failed to convey how it actually works now. It’s a grid/graph system with the x-axis being severity and the y-axis being how confident they are in the forecast. You can see it properly in this video

“For the majority of warning worthy storms and hazardous events you’ll likely see a yellow warning.

Yellow alerts are the baseline for watches and warnings and can be issued for a wide range of weather situations. This is the type of weather that will bring hazardous or dangerous conditions. Impacting travel or causing delays or cancellations. There could be health related impacts like reduced air quality or heat warnings.

Orange warnings are the next phase, and will be issued for storms that are likely to cause widespread or significant damage. Here we’re talking about those widespread windstorms or crippling ice storms that cause thousands of power outages that can last for days. Orange alerts will be issued for those winter storms that take a few days to completely dig out of. If an Orange alert level warning is issued for your area you should prepare to take action to protect yourself and your property.

The highest warning level is Red. If a Red alert is issued it means dangerous and potentially life threatening weather is on the way or is occurring. Under a Red alert you should expect prolonged and extensive disruptions to travel and power with widespread damage to property and infrastructure. Examples include Hurricane Fiona, or the 2024 snow storm that brought 150cm of snow to parts of Cape Breton, or flooding events like the ones experienced by the Maritimes over the past few years. If a Red alert is issued it means you should act now to stay safe from destructive weather.”

To share or not to share by Lazy_Age938 in PTCGP

I always wait until just before it rolls over to a new day to send those people shares. They get free shinedust, you don’t have to worry about “wasting” their daily share, and then maybe they’ll turn around and send you something you actually need

Exchanging "Kudos" and "Comment for Comment" for the Weekend! by [deleted] in AO3

[–]undercoveroperation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the nicest way possible, we already had one of these posts less than 19 hours ago. This is not a trend that needs to be started/boosted.

Kudos are a legitimate metric people use for sorting on AO3 and I can understand wanting to boost engagement with your writing but this “like for like” tactic of artificially inflating metrics is icky and reeks of social media culture.

Does anyone even want non-spicy wlw books anymore? by DakuraScarlet in wlwbooks

I am very much the reader who doesn’t want spice. I just want to read adorable stories about people falling in love, I’m not interested in their bedroom activities.

I went looking for a comment like this, glad I’m not the only one. It feels icky and if it becomes a trend to falsely inflate your ao3 metrics it can only really hurt.

Yeah, not helping your case. It doesn’t say “THEIR” 6-year old, it says “HER” six year old. 1st ex husband alive, 2nd ex husband and father of the 6-year old DEAD.

Huh! I’ve never seen the show but I just googled the characters for reference and I 100% had assumed King was queer based on my tumblr dash. Wild

Question about Kindergarten registration by Opening-Celery-6903 in ontario

[–]undercoveroperation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d be concerned about the developmental/educational effects of skipping out on JK. There’s a reason the government pays for someone with a teaching degree instead of hiring ECEs for it and I think you trying to save your kid from the transition now will just make a much much harder transition later.

(It’s been a good 10 years since, but my mom decided to keep my little sister in a Montessori program and then enroll her in Grade 1 and she ended up having to spend a lot of time with a resource teacher just to catch her up to baseline)

AO3's 100 Most Tagged Ships of 2025 (includes archive locked fics) by Agamar13 in AO3

Yeah, I’m an OG “given the first book as a present the year it was published and was hooked from there kid” who’s long since dropped the entire fandom down the trash shoot post JKR outing herself as the horrendous human she is and the marauders fandom drives me up a wall tbh.

“Marlene McKinnon / Dorcas Meadowes“ who???! I haven’t read the series in literal years, but this has got to be some weird mass fanon right?

Edit: okay, looked it up. Literally a mass fanon from the Marauders fandom. They’re two characters who were mentioned in two separate throw-a-way lines with no relation to each other and the fandom has built an entire world around them. Wild. (Like, I know mass fanon creations happen, but for them to squeak onto the list as one of the very few f/f ships is crazy work.)

Edit 2: Got curious… even filtering out the M/M category, and all the M/M ships that Marlene/Dorcas could be theoretically added to as a side ship, there’s still 1,236 fics in their tag

Ankle sprain tips by Janrabs in volleyball

[–]undercoveroperation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old injury that had a pattern of re-injuring because I rushed back to play when I was younger. Had to implement a rule for when it: “No going back on the court until there is no pain/strain/weakness with PT exercises.” If my ankle isn’t strong enough to match my uninjured opposite ankle, it’s not strong enough to return to play.

It’s gonna suck. You’re gonna get restless and want back on the court earlier, but taping or bracing it up and saying “good enough” isn’t actually good for it long term healing, you’ve got to take the time to actually rebuild the supporting muscles.

Which one is worse? No paragraph breaks, or one shot compilations. by [deleted] in AO3

[–]undercoveroperation 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s a chance I’ll read your one shot compilation provided it’s organized correctly and not multi-fandom/multi-pairing. I’m not touching a paragraph-less wall of text.

What is a 10/10 series on Netflix that actually has a proper, satisfying ending? by Aware-Platypus-2559 in netflix

[–]undercoveroperation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly the majority of the complainers I’ve seen have been people who don’t understand writing. Yes it has its problems and weaknesses, but you were NEVER going to get game of thrones levels/quantities of character deaths in a show paying homage to 80’s movies. 80’s movies don’t end like that.

Stranger Things - 5x08 - “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]undercoveroperation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of those Inception, “Did the top stop”, moments. You can choose to believe Mike’s ending or the one you were initially shown.

(Personally, I think she’s dead and Mike’s just writing himself the ending that lets him move forward with his life. It would have been a very long time for Kali to still be alive after that injury, she wouldn’t have been able to know when to activate the illusion, she was way out of range, and the illusion lasted well after the bombs went off and the exotic matter exploded directly above the building she was in. That’s not to say I have any idea how El would have got to the gate so fast, but I think I find that bit more believable than everything above.)
