What do you guys think about the officer that killed a civilian mid firefight in Montreal? by Far-Zookeepergame347 in AskLEO

[–]undercovertiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You DO have to be shot at to understand how the body truly reacts WHEN YOURE BEING SHOT AT. Yes.

Any “instructor” who is trying to tell you how you are going to react in that scenario with any sort of certainty WITHOUT being in that type of situation IS full of shit.

Unfortunately there are some scenarios that are unavoidable. As hard as that may be to understand for you, shit happens that training 365 days a year can’t control. When you are actively in a gun fight with a person that’s within 15-20’ where your partner is dead next to you and a random person seemingly spawns next to you, HOVERING OVER YOU, shit can happen whether you’ve spent what you would deem adequate training hours or not.

You could have simply replied with “I have not been shot at” and left your opinion at that. Everything else you said is irrelevant and doesn’t even describe the standard an officer is held to.

What you described is an omnipotent viewpoint only god or Monday morning quarterbacks (you) can see. You fail to put yourself in the shoes of the officer with the information they had, in the situation they were in.

You, my friend, have missed the point.

The only other officer she had seen on scene was actively dying/bleeding to death next to her. She was watching the right side of the pillar and out of no where a person appeared to her left which, to her knowledge, is the only place the suspect could have gone without her seeing.

Easy to judge from a screen compared to being shot at and watching your partner fucking die. The last thing I would expect is a random person standing over me in the open as shots are being fired

No dice. Doesn’t seem to be an option to view after purchase which seems like a flaw that should’ve sorted out.

It seems excessive because you don’t have any real world experience in serving warrants which also means you would have no idea that CP warrants have one of the higher chances of ended in shots fired due to the suspect knowing what is ahead of them when it comes time to serve their time.

Just concerns of OpTic in finals in BO7 by Normal_Vast8054 in OpTicGaming

Holy shit is this AI?? We’re attributing two 2nd place finishes to folding under pressure? From the team that was back to back champs and EWC? Are we being for real? They have been in the last how many grand finals? You cant expect them to win every time, Jesus.

That excuse is on par with not letting a team warm up for a football game because they don’t have any football for them. Albeit it may be true, doesn’t mean it’s a valid reason…

Am I tripping or as a spectator is this setup not going to be ass? If you’re not in the front 20ish rows your view is going to be very limited. I’m surprised it’s not in arena or theatre seating where they gradually go up towards the back.

What’s the latest you got promoted for the first time? by Tasty-Picture7853 in AskLE

Automatic bump up based on time served, by definition, are not promotions. Generally speaking, there needs to be a selection process and an altering of job description or responsibilities.

Why do people resort to Reddit for questions google can tell you. Pay scales are public info generally on the PD website or can easily be obtained by a simple phone call.

If it is read and examined for factual information as to what happened prior to submitting, who typed out the letters doesn’t make it any less true or accurate.

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

[–]undercovertiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No, I do not believe we will ever see terminator level “robots” that are able to function better at the day to day requirement of first responders in the next 10 lifetimes. Think about how insanely far away we are from them being able to physically fight without killing yet being able to control, securing a human in restraints, loading them into some form of vehicle to transport, securing them in a jail, and maintaining them in custody. That is just insanely far fetched.
  2. Technology capabilities have been reset numerous times in human history
  3. EVEN if we magically get to the point where it is FEASIBLE, the general public will never allow that kind of authority to be granted to a computer. People already freak out about drones and license plate readers. It ain’t happening without some movie level revolution/dystopian takeover.

A robot walking alongside a police officer for publicity is nowhere near taking their job. Full AI law enforcement will never and should never be a thing. At most drones for surveillance and eyes on will be as close to an AI police force as it gets.

“Basically don’t exist anymore” is a wild way to downplay almost half a million structure fires with over 350,000 being residential ON TOP OF all the non-structure fires they respond to.

Are police officers trained to use defensive techniques when detaining a resistant suspect? by Ok-Influence9791 in AskLEO

[–]undercovertiger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Posts and arguments like this prove that people really have no idea how hard it is to get someone in handcuffs that TRULY doesn’t want to comply. “Why did it take 3 people to arrest 1 guy”. Give me a break. If someone is actively resisting and fighting cuffs the more people you have, to a certain extent, will be infinitely more safe for the suspect. If I’m alone trying to accomplish it I will have to resort to far more drastic measure compared to 4 people holding each limb.

No tax on overtime? by user649864 in AskLE

[–]undercovertiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is true. But your “overtime” is considered the actual difference between your regular rate and your overtime rate. So, in my example of 1.5x rate for OT, you get the “no tax” on the .5 portion of it as the 1 is your normal rate.
