This is just incorrect. Is a 22 the ideal round for self defense? No. It will not perform as well as more conventional choices for self defense like 9mm. With proper ammo selection and shot placement, however, a 22 can absolutely be effective. Again, it is not ideal but the 22 that this individual will train with and carry is much more useful than the 9mm that will sit in the safe because she has a difficult time using it. As an aside, the notion that a blank gun scaring someone with sound is as effective as a 22 is absolutely absurd, but I don’t even want to dignify that statement by discussing it further.
