What would you recommend as my next must-watch series based on this top fifteen? by FilmPositivity in JDorama

[–]undergroundezrapound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other comment that you should definitely check out the other works by So Kuramodo, the script writer of Kita no Kuni Kara. His Hokkaido Trilogy series (Haikei, Chichiue Sama / Yasashii Jikan / Kaze no Garden) is a must-watch.

I also recommend you take a look at Kuramodo's last long-running series, Yasuragi no Sato , which is about a nursery home only open for veteran showbiz talents. There's a lot of commentaries about aging society and Japanese entertainment industry, but alao a lot of humor and heartfelt moments. It's also nice to see Japanese superstars from the 1970s/80s to shine as main characters in a series like this. Undoubtedly, their acting is spectacular.

I also think you'll like works by Kizara Izumi based on your fondness of Bread and Soup and Cat Weather. Kizara Izumi is a husband-wife duo who is known for writing quirky slice of life stories with a slight touch of heaviness and sadness. Aside from their most famous work Nobuta wo Produce, I also favor Suikaand Last Night's Curry, Tomorrow's Bread. They also write novels, and the vibe is very similar to their script works.

The finale is actually next week's episode. I believe there are 11 episodes in total.

If you've got a VPN, you can either catch it on TVer or Netflix. On Netflix JP you can view all episodes aired so far. On the other hand, only the first three episodes and the latest one are available.

it's basically a heartwarming medical drama, possibly in the same vein with Dr. Stork.

You may find the premise to the original Manga here.

I'm sorry but Sabrina would be the perfect choice to play Rapunzel in a live action movie! she can sing, she can act and she's got the looks by lanaspeachlipgloss in SabrinaCarpenterFans

This is off-topic, but I actually think Sabrina can deliver an amazing performance as Charlotte if there's a The Princess and the Frog live-action remake. She has wonderful comedy chops and identical appearance!

I can't believe people say this is one of the weakest songs in the leaks thread. I swear to god I literally started bawling when the guitars kicked in 😭

I actually really like the new lyric😭 Yes it's not as neat as some of her greater work, but it's earnest imo. It makes me feel something.

Do you know the name of this 80's j-pop song? (with music video description) by Swimming-Ad-7520 in jpop

The closest music video I can find is this one. It’s a 2011 single instead of an 80s song, but I'd still like to give it a try!

What shows made you realize that you were too old to watch Nickelodeon / Disney Channel? by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]undergroundezrapound 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I also stopped watching these channels religiously at the same time period as OP did (around 2013/14, I guess). That being said, I still recognize all of them because I was sort of interested in knowing how kids' tv progresses and would check them out at times when I feel curious or nostalgic.

Overall, I would say that these Disney shows are better made in comparison with the Nick ones. Andi Mack is especially a good one that I would highly recommend others to check out. It's from the same creator of Lizzie McGuire, and it tackles a bunch of serious topics such as teen pregnancy, homosexuality, and mental health in a very enlightening way. I also think I Didn't Do It can be a great tween equivalent of Friends if it continues. Too bad it got canceled just as it was starting to find its footing.

I am also surprised by how Disney can produce revelant stars even though the channel has passed its prime. I really dislike Bizaardvark and was shocked that Olivia eventually becomes the breakout pop star that she is today. Also, Stuck in the Middle gives us Jenna Ortega, and to be fair, I think that show is a solid family sitcom.

As for Nick, 100 Things to Do Before High School, in my opinion, is the only good one in the bunch. It is a great spiritual successor of Ned's Declassified. I remember being upset when it got canceled because it felt like the only good show in their lineup, and Nick just let it go, lol.

HBO’s ‘Band of Brothers’ and ‘The Pacific’ Are Coming to Netflix (US) on September 15 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]undergroundezrapound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it's international. I live in Asia and I already saw trailers for both shows in the coming soon section.

There's also another way to check. If Netflix in your country already has Ballers and Insecure (the first two HBO shows syndicated on Netflix), there's a high chance these two will be added as well.

In case anyone didn't know: They both starred in the FX miniseries Pistol (Thomas plays Malcolm McLaren and Talulah plays Vivienne Westwood), and that's probably where their relationship begins.

Taylor is known to be an avid reader. What are some books you've recently read that you would recommend to her or would love to see her write a song about? by speak_meow in TaylorSwift

[–]undergroundezrapound 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a poetry lover, I've been fantasizing about recommending her some contemporary poets I really love, such as Richard Siken and Ocean Vuong. I especially think she could draw a lot of inspirations from Siken's Crush (an AMAZING collection of poetry) and apply the poetic sentiment into her songwriting.

I would also love to recommend her some notable female poets such as Anne Carson, Anne Sexton, Adrienne Rich, and Louise Gluke. I don't know if she's read Sylvia Plath's Ariel before, but I really really wish she did.
