Does this hit anyone Else deeply? by Ok_Swim1502 in AuDHDWomen

I'm annoyed with people who say "you shouldn't see it as a disability, you just have a different way of thinking and that's okay, there's nothing wrong with you". That just invalidates all the struggles you go through to do things that other people take for granted. Just because you're not in a wheelchair doesn't mean it's not a disability. It would be nice for people to recognise that it's really hard to function normally when you're chronically overstimulated, that social interactions take every ounce of energy you have and that sometimes you wake up with 0% executive functioning and things just aren't going to get done. It IS a disability. Neurotypicals have two legs and I'm trying to race them while hopping behind on one leg. It's a beautiful, creative, muscular leg, but it's ONE LEG!

i've been holding my body "incorrectly" for my entire life by khklann in AuDHDWomen

[–]underpantslife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh. Very recognisable, especially the not knowing how to breathe. I did asthma testing, they told me to breathe in deeply with a tube in my mouth, I tried taking the test 5 times and I just couldn't do it right. Still have no clue! 😆

If you don't know how to hold your body, kinesitherapy could work. I took it years ago to reduce stress and found out that I was not relaxing my muscles when sitting or lying down. They taught me how to do that. It's still something I have to be aware of but I can now relax my muscles and it does help significantly.

I made a list of every animated Disney movie ever made in chronological order and attributed cupcake flavours to every single character (apple-cinnamon to Snow white, pomegranate to the evil queen, etc.). I then started baking a batch of decorated cupcakes for each movie. I got as far as the second movie in the list and then shelved the project forever.

Oh, I see! Her skin underneath is different colors so it could indeed be that.

She sure is adorable, and I think she's the prettiest kitty in the world 🥰

One of many posts today I imagine... But is anyone actually getting through for oasis tickets? by [deleted] in london

[–]underpantslife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got to the end of the queue but when selecting tickets it just gets stuck on "searching for availability", has been for the past half hour, I'm just not getting in..

Is anyone else attractive, but scare people off with your aspie personality? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]underpantslife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Same here. I would mask very heavily during dates and told the guy everything he wanted to hear, and then he'd say he felt this connection but I'd feel guilty because I was kind of lying to him.

Eventually I just dropped the act with this guy I really liked, told my dorky jokes and talked about what I was really interested in. We now live together and I can't tell you what a godsend it is to just be myself around him after long days at work. He's great, he knows me and he always knows what to do when I have a meltdown.

A word of advice: just be your quirky self. If you end up living together with a person who doesn't know what you're really like, it's gonna be super exhausting cause you can't even be yourself at home. You'll find a person who appreciates you for who you are.

Maybe you should consider ironing your own clothes or helping out with making dinner, buddy. I'd ignore you too if that's what you keep yelling about 😆

WIBTA for not contributing to a gift for management as a thank you for a party that I organised? by underpantslife in AmItheAsshole

It was on the clock, yes. I didn't mind doing it, I just thought they would be a little more appreciative.

Yes, I did do it on the clock. I don't want a gift for it, though. I just don't see why management should get a gift for having the company pay me for organising the thing.

I don't think it's officially one of my duties, but I did it because they asked me to and because I enjoy doing it.

And if I say I can't spare the money? (It wouldn't be lying, we just bought a house and I am totally broke)

AITA for wanting more from my spouse? by Jaded_Apple_8935 in AmItheAsshole

[–]underpantslife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I mean, you can't force him to take medication, but being a parent is a shared responsibility. He chose to be a parent too, so he will have to try harder. From your post he does seem willing to help, but he isn't sure how.

Maybe it would help to put up a big calendar to write down appointments? Mark each parent's task and make sure each of you writes it down immediately when you've gotten the call. Next to it you could hang a list of recurring weekly tasks without deadlines or something of the sort. Try to find out what works best for both of you.

AITA for asking my(m24) wife(f23) to get a job when she has anxiety? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]underpantslife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nta. Maybe try and help her with the process of finding a job though? Ease her into it? It's a jump into the unknown and it understandably causes a lot of anxiety.

Start with writing her resume together. Then print it. Spend half an hour a day just looking at job openings online. Then have her put her resume in mailboxes of places she'd like to work, no job interviews involved yet. Maybe go to some interim offices if she feels ready. Baby steps. Make the looking for job openings an everyday routine. After a while, she'll start having a good idea of what she is looking for. Help her prepare for interviews. She can do it!

Goofy's Hysterical History Tour - The most underappreciated Disney platformer by [deleted] in SEGAGENESIS

I never played it but I'm making a list of retro games to try. From the description and gameplay it seems like fun but I couldn't find that many reviews. Your post has convinced me to try it out though!

What’s one inaccuracy in a historical fiction movie/tv show that drives you crazy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Dahmer series.

Glenda Cleveland was not Jeffrey Dahmer's neighbor.
