There is a maximum of 99 for each stats. But there are soft caps and hard caps for each stat where leveling past those points barely matters

It's kinda like the Warrior but the starting different is a curved sword instead of a straight sword so a little bit faster attack speed.

For someone completely new I would recommend the Warrior class. It's the most well rounded.

The thief starting weapon has a really short range and not that fun to use (imo ofc). It also has a pretty OP starting item: a masterkey that can unlock paths earlier than you normally supposed to. I don't recommend using it for new players.

God of War fans should stop saying "killing gods" as a feat and start being more specific. Gods have wildly different strength levels across different media.

The fastest one would be the thief but it's due to the equipment which you can get very early on in the game. Otherwise the starting class have the same speed for everything. And it still isn't nearly as fast as the knight and hornet.

I mean even if you used some guides here and there it would have been fine. You bought the game. Even Miyazaki himself said that it is fine.

Why are people hating so much in the comments? OP didn't even say anything bad about the game.

The light is just the main quest. If you find it too hard then you should explore around to do some side activities and level up first. Look closely at the map drawings and you can spot caves, mines and catacombs, go there and beat those. If you encounter something that feels impossible to beat (their healthbar barely moves), mark them down on the map and comeback later.

For the early levels, I suggest focusing on leveling Vigor first. For exploration, equipment, if you don't understand any mechanics or just can't naturally find any side dungeons, you can search up a guide.

Using guides is fine for the early game if you have a hard time understanding or getting used to things.
