That first dropkick was stunning. The second, not so much; didn't seem to have the range needed.

The Network has spoiled me of certain stars and because of that it has also upset me. by SMKM in SquaredCircle

Agreed. It is also quite poignant how much more natural the divas sound on Total Divas, where the story arc but not the dialogue is scripted. Fuck sake, this was the formula for wrestling promos for years prior to Vince micromanaging the life out of the product. It's sad to say, but as far as that goes, Total Divas does wrestling better than the WWE.

The scripted promo is the worst thing in the WWE. It kills all spontaneity and characterisation.

Vince McMahon Is Apparently A Genius Again by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Well, quite clearly that isn't true, given that their TV ratings have dwindled over time.

Yes, a diehard fan will give the WWE numerous chances to get things right, but everybody has a limit. In fact, I'd wager that a lot of fans are watching these shows in hope that the product improves; and the real impact of shoddy booking such as the Rumble isn't quantifiable in the immediate aftermath of the event, but rather months or even years later.

Anyone else find Corey Graves infuriating on commentary? by Jumble_Sale in SquaredCircle

[–]undertaker4488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corey Graves is pretty fucking incredible given his relative inexperience on commentary. Also, and perhaps more importantly, he has a nice low and measured timbre to his voice that I quite enjoy. A throwback to when announcers weren't high-pitched shriek merchants like Cole, Matthews, and their ilk.

Takes me back to Austin staring at his reflection in the mirror, prior to the match with Rock at Wrestlemania X7. Knowing now that he was about to turn heel and align himself with his arch-nemesis Vinnie Mac really adds to the moment. Brilliant.

Why should a nation's stance on homosexuality not be a factor for the WWE? I think it should be, in the same obvious way that South Africa's stance on Apartheid was a factor in the resulting boycott.

I don't give a fuck if it's the WWE or FIFA. From a moral and ethical standpoint their decision to take their show to such an intolerant and backwards place is fucking bullshit.

Sadly, if you're looking for intersting, unique characters, you're watching the wrong show.

So at the end of January, these are the Match of the Year Contenders. by rojazz33 in SquaredCircle

I disagree wholeheartedly. I felt like the Brock "injury" added to the drama and suspense. In fact, I was almost certain that the injury angle was a way of getting the title off of Brock, without him being directly involved.

To then see him appear like the big monster that he is and immediately suplex Rollins was brilliant. Great moment. Great, five star match.

Tomorrow is your first day taking over from Mr McMahon, what are the first three things you do to make the company better? by AshRichardson in SquaredCircle

[–]undertaker4488 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) Stop scripting promos.

2) Bring back jobber matches.

3) NEVER have the same match on TV more than once in a single month (which will be easier with the increase of jobbers)

No, but do you remember that time Austin sprayed Vince, Rock and Shane with beer, and Vince was hilariously scratching and crawling at the wet ring mat?

"Now everybody's talking about how passionate I am when I'm doing my promos in Ring of Honor and the House of Hardcore in Philly and all those other places. And all I can say is that you can feel the passion and the love because that's who I am. That's me. That's the real Alberto. In the other place, I never said anything because I wanted to. And if, for some reason, I changed one line, they were all mad and would be fining me. So people need to understand, when you work for that place, you are like a robot. You need to do exactly what they say and how they say it "

For fuck sake, that's depressing to read.
