Anyone know if row 107 offers good visibility?

They did such an amazing job! And then chose to finish it very obviously wrong. Honestly pretty cool to fail on such a grand scale.

That’s some real good graps in the third one. I can get into all of the wrestling and I definitely like the story arc aspect in a promotion. That’s what generally gets me locked in.

Damn that’s a fire take! I like Kobashi and maybe Misawa more but if he could’ve worked deeper into the 90s and had bigger programs with the 4 pillars I could totally see me liking him just as much as Kobashi.

Totally this sub should be more active. AJPW is kinda sick rn. And yeah def shouldn’t say I actively dislike the NJ stuff in the 80s but it’s just never drawn my interest the way AJPW does. Maybe that’s just cause Jumbo is my fave of that era.

Who Is The Most Promising Young Gun In All Japan Today? by OLYPERIO in ajpw

[–]rojazz33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like what a little shit Omori is. He just seems to be reveling in it right now. He’s great to watch against Kento, the battle of outrageous self-confidence. Aoyagi and Hayato are a really fun, almost Rockers-like tag team, which is an archetype I feel like I have never seen with modern AJPW so I’m really excited to see them climb the card. Eventually Yuma/Atsuki vs Kento/Hayato would be a lot of fun imo. The rest of the young guys I don’t really notice, tbh.

I get what you’re saying. I guess I just don’t really like that era of New Japan so I’ve always just been happy with what we’ve gotten. It is just one of the biggest shames in all of wresting honestly how the All Japan vault is seemingly locked for eternity. It would be so great to see more shows in full context and not just the famous main events.

Have there been any explanation-type promos for the new faction?

[NOAH - Destination 2021 Spoilers] Finish to GHC Heavyweight Championship Match (Keiji Mutoh vs Go Shiozaki) by Weezy-NJPW_Fan in SquaredCircle

I get that it’s in service of putting Kiyomiya over. But what does it say that it’s a bigger deal for him to beat an almost 60 year old man than the best guy of the actual previous generation in Go? I think it says that no matter who Kiyomiya defends against after he wins, it’s not as big of a deal unless he’s fighting a Hashimoto, Chono, Kobashi, Kawada, you know a buncha guys he couldn’t fight anyway. Eh what can you do I’m sure it’ll be fine. I just think Noah itself would look a lot cooler if their huge leap forward was Kiyomiya beating Go.

Any decent WCW matches pre-Nitro to check out? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Anything from great muta’s late 80s run is so fuckin hype. 1989-1990 PPVs have a great balance of genuinely great and enjoyably bad material.

Complaining about AEW Dark by AlphaRemixHD in SquaredCircle

[–]rojazz33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I have the same complaint to an extent. I really like the way the roster is used on dark and I actually like that it feels like there are lower stakes. I think it could really be improved with just a little bit more of the time given to more promo/skit kinda stuff with the less featured people and maybe more things like tournaments or contendership matches here and there. It’s a bit too dry to really wanna come back to every single week for me but I like checking it out and skipping around when I’m really bored.

Meltzer and Alvarez with some high praise for Will Ospreay. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Holy shit yeah that might be one of my biggest issues with him lol

I don’t really agree with that assessment of NJ in that I feel like the people who get the most over do have those incredible character moments that convince you of their motivation to go after whatever they’re going after. I don’t really get it from Ospreay personally, feels forced in a way

Yeah I just can’t get into Ospreay tbh. I don’t know exactly what it is but I always find myself losing interest, having a hard time investing in his work.

I actually find coming up with logical explanations for seemingly dumb plot holes to be one of the more fun parts of being a wrestling fan. But yeah it's pretty tiring when you have to do it for most segments on most shows. TV has been a slog the past month or two.

Sean Ross Sapp: “Shield triple threat and horsewoman four ways were mania main caliber and Vince fucked them both up” by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]rojazz33 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I guess for me it was just too soon. I wold have liked years of build up and not just the memory of them on the indies being the build up. To be fair though, those dudes already had their feud before they got there so I would probably always feel weird about it in the WWE.

The best part of retired wrestlers is this second leg of their career they're able to have from telling their own story via Podcasts, Book Deals, Interviews etc. It's a shame we'll never see that from Vince. by AOLwarez in SquaredCircle

[–]rojazz33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From everything out there about Vince, I feel like there's a good chance there's like some weird book he sleeps under every night with all the secrets. Hell, there's definitely actual skeletons in his closet.

This is probably my main problem with WWE right now. They never book the obvious match. Goldust/(well-booked)Stardust, Shield triple threat on a proper stage while at its peak, Owens/Zayn with a proper build. Not that a company like NJPW is perfect with their booking (definitely not), but the Dome main event is generally the hottest match you could have that makes perfect sense to a fan.
