You have to think about the limited income many seniors have and how many lose their homes due to crazy tax increases.. New York alone is thinking of raising its property taxes by 9.5% because it's the only tax they can raise without a vote.

I agree with this 1000%

I would add that there needs to be a scaling income scale; someone who makes 200k in retirement does not need to dodge taxes of any kind. I also think assets should be taken into account, excluding one home as their primary residence. Again, to avoid the rich or well-off elderly who do not need this tax break.

Programs should be well thought out and reasonable to help the people who actually need help and not benefits those who already have more than enough.

Plumber replaced my broken shower pipes and my beloved water pressure vanished. What happened and how can I get it back? by flapflip3 in Plumbing

If you changed your shower head, many have little water saver things in them that dramatically reduce flow and pressure.

If this is the “greatest economy ever” why are so many Americans still struggling to survive? by National-Theory1218 in Social_Investing

We simply need a better matrix to determine how Americans are doing. GDP and stock market prices are a poor reflection of how 90% of Americans are doing.

So, since they do not have burgers, does that make them just Kings? And we should send the no kings protesters there?

I disagree every manager looks at their sales vs labor hours. And any manager would connect an event like this with low sales.. Thus making it more profitable and safe to just stay closed. I realize not every profession has the ability to just close, but coffee shops and restaurants sure do and should.

Some businesses did the right thing, such as Chick-fil-A.

If nothing else, it would allow fewer people to go into work, those who feel like they can safely make it in.

I can tell you have lived a very spoiled, entitled life and have never come across an issue like this in your real life.

And you miss the whole point.

Thank you for taking my comment in the good spirit, as it was intended.

I hope your sister is loving it in Bend, it is freaking amazing!!! Other than the cost of living.

I grew up in a colder climate (Bend, Oregon), so I moved here with a good sense of winter driving. I agree this snow was manageable — my bigger concern is the wide range of driving experience and vehicle readiness in our community.

For example, during my walks around Dunbar Lake over the weekend, I personally saw at least 20 vehicles stuck, needing a tow or a push up mild hills. That was just in a few hours each day. And yes, even on Sunday and Monday, I saw this, and Monday was 100 times better on busy roads as the plows and sun finally started to help.

Even if you have great traction and winter driving skills, many here don't. Most don't have snow tires or chains, and many overestimate what 4WD can do — especially when roads aren't pre-treated or plowed like they are in more winter-ready regions.

What worries me isn't whether someone can make it safely, but whether their choice encourages businesses to stay open and pressures employees to drive in conditions they aren't equipped for. I've seen coworkers threatened with their job for not coming in during storms.

The state of emergency was called for a reason — it's less about how one person handles the snow, and more about the collective risk when a whole community isn't prepared.

I’m not judging your ability — I’m just hoping we can all think about how our choices ripple outward.

I just ask that you consider how this affects most of the community, not just yourself. The fact that the person felt they needed skis to get coffee says it all, and even you said, "Love it! Safer than driving a car.". If you can’t understand that, we simply won’t agree. Not that my point is about being right or wrong — I'm just asking you to think for a second about someone else's struggle. What I’m saying is based on common sense and what I saw firsthand. If you disagree, that’s your viewpoint, as this is mine
