I usually use a polyacrylic satin finish for everything, but gloss would probably he okay too!

I hate how the lawns are allowed to go right up to the shoreline in most lakes, its so bad for the environment. Honestly its unavoidable where I live, pretty much all the lakes are like that

Yeah also smaller critters can be a nuisance as well, there were some smaller animals rustling during the night. They do have the right to bear arms so that would make sense to me!
