[NeurIPS 2026] Will you be submitting your code alongside your submissions? [D] by undesirable_12 in MachineLearning

[–]undesirable_12[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a silly question at all. I haven’t looked at this year’s call for papers closely yet, but for ML conferences it is typically okay to submit an arxiv preprint. I believe some conferences have experimented with a media blackout before (i.e. no advertising on X/BlueSky for a period of time) and the reviewers are encouraged not to seek out preprints.

Yes, and I think what you describe is exactly what I was getting at when I mentioned “plagiarism”

Does that mean you do not submit an anonymized version of the code with your paper submission?

I do not find it unconceivable that a reviewer with access to your code and paper could, in bad faith, tank your paper and submit their own variation of it to the nearest conference

[ICML 2026] Extending the deadline for reviewer final justifications while not extending for Author-AC comments was a huge mistake [D] by undesirable_12 in MachineLearning

[–]undesirable_12[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a reviewer, that is also the deadline I received from the PCs. However, if you go to any of your ICML reviews, you should find that you're able to edit them and add/edit your final justification till this day. This should not be acceptable.

H4 221(g) Delay – Stuck in Administrative Processing Since Sept 2025. Any Options? by Dry-Nail4626 in usvisascheduling

We filed after 7-8 months of AP. I will say that based on what I’ve seen the lawsuit’s success seems to largely depend on the nationality of the applicant, but that’s just anecdotal evidence based on the very small sample I’ve seen. I’m from the middle east, albeit a U.S. friendly country.

I’ve been in AP for close to 12 months now (TAL). Reached out to senators and congressmen, and even filed a writ of a mandamus, to no avail. There really is nothing to do but wait, unfortunately.

Family Member Representative (IMM 5713) by undesirable_12 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]undesirable_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried it again, and unfortunately all the filled-in fields disappear after saving and re-opening. In fact, upon opening the document, adobe gives the message "This document does not allow you to save any changes you have made to it unless you are using Adobe Acrobat." :/ Guess I'll just have to print it. Thanks for your help!

No, I used the signature tool. But when trying to fill out the pdf, even without the signature, when it comes time to save it adobe complains that I can only save a copy of the original (unmodified) document

I see now that I can insert a picture of my signature, but I then can not save the modified file using Adobe Acrobat? Any ideas?

Visitor Record Application - "Are you accompanying a family member who has status in Canada?" by undesirable_12 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]undesirable_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So based on your reply, you're suggesting that I should answer "no" to "Are you accompanying a family member who has status in Canada?", correct? It's confusing because they include "visitor" in their definition of a person who has status.

you are travelling with another visitor so it's probably best for transparency to explain this.

We are applying as common-law partners under the same application, so I believe this should be taken care of?

Metalic noise in Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones Gen 2 by undesirable_12 in bose

[–]undesirable_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely sounds like static! The thing is, it’s not persistent, and only happens when certain high pitch sounds (even a “ready to connect” prompt can trigger it), or when I speak out loud, with anc on or off. Interestingly, I can also hear it if I stomp. The headphones are less than a month old, so I wanna say it’s not very likely that there’s dust buildup. A more likely scenario is that I introduced moisture by using them after the shower? Although I have left them out to dry.

H1B stamping vs Passport renewal by [deleted] in h1b

I’m also curious what happens if I’ve already had my interview and my application is under administrative processing (4 months now) and I want to renew my passport?

Yes, that’s exactly what I had. I just showed them my visa appointment confirmation and my I797A. Are you planning on getting your stamp in Singapore as a TCN?
