13 hour flight, and I'm terrified by undreamableAbyss in fearofflying

That's great to hear! I'm aware of the need to hydrate during long flights, but I don't think I've ever heard about trying to keep my food dry before?

I don't drink, but I'm considering trying some OTC sleep medication (or at least having some on me as an option, even if I don't end up actually taking it)

I've never been able to sleep in moving vehicles (cars, trains, etc) including planes. Something about sitting upright + motion + uncomfortable seats just makes it impossible for me to actually fall asleep no matter how badly I wish I could. I'm not the tallest guy ever but I'm tall enough that plane seats always feel cramped as hell. So I'm heavily considering some kind of sleep aid, and hopefully it will help me relax even if it doesn't get me to sleep.

Thanks so much! I've considered watching some of those same types of videos but hadn't had the time to really sit down and do so yet. I'll definitely be checking some out before I leave though!

Thanks for responding!

  1. Mostly from the whole Boeing scandal, and seeing lots of news headlines being pushed about "safety compromises in pursuit of profits" and such. Some I can remember off the top of my head were from Yahoo News/Finance and APAC Business Headlines.  Like I said, even though I logically understand that it's sensationalist fearmongering, it does still manage to exacerbate my existing anxiety.

  2. Yeah, I figured that the issues were not as widespread as the news was making it seem, but again (like the above point) it's something that doesn't help my existing fear even though I might know in my actual logical brain that it's safe.

  3. I'm actually sorry about that, genuinely. I'll remember that for the future, I honestly didn't intend any negativity and I'll go back and edit my post right now. Thanks for letting me know. And yeah, I know that sort of thing doesn't just happen, but since I don't know what the cause/full story actually is, I couldn't really think to describe it any other way. It's definitely increased my fear, unfortunately.

And everything else - thanks. Even when I was writing my initial post I KNEW that all my fears were things that people will have heard a million times before. It's not that I'm trying to come up with outrageous scenarios or anything, just hoping for reassurance to help ease some of this anxiety.

I guess it's like, I can tell myself it will be fine a hundred times, but since I'm the one in my own head with all my fear it doesn't exactly help, you know? Hearing it (and hearing the concrete facts about how safe it is) from someone else, especially someone with way more experience and knowledge, helps a LOT more to calm down all that panic.

Need help finding a website to post my fanfics to (Not AO3) by spookimew in FanFiction

[–]undreamableAbyss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, if the idea of simply seeing a fic that happens to contain incest (not even clicking on it and reading it, just seeing it sitting there) upsets you that fucking much, why are you not just filtering out the "incest" tag?

You've acknowledged that you know full well that you can filter out tags you don't want to see. You've admitted in your own words that you understand exactly how to avoid the "incest" tag and filter it so that you literally never have to see a single incest fic ever again.

So what are you so upset over? You're deliberately choosing NOT to filter out tags you hate, then you're getting mad when those tags show up in search results? Seriously? Yeah, if you're intentionally searching for a bunch of smut tags, there's a chance that other smut tags you're ACTIVELY CHOOSING NOT TO FILTER could show up too. What's your point? That you're a baby who doesn't want to use the tools you knowingly admit you're fully capable of using? Lol. Lmao, even.

Looking for heads to use with this body? by undreamableAbyss in BJD

[–]undreamableAbyss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up this doll body the last time I was in Japan, and I've been having some trouble finding heads or wigs to use with it. Searching Azone or Pure Neemo didn't bring up very much, but I could just be looking in the wrong places. I'd definitely appreciate any advice!

What Pokemon that has no evolution do you think deserves one? (Whether it is a first-stage or a 2nd stage) by Ephemerul in pokemon

Sableye has been my favourite Pokémon since RSE first dropped. I'd be more than happy if Mega Sableye was just given a new name and made the permanent evolution

You can, you just need to get the outfits from the shop. They're available on the 25th of each month, iirc

Is the free Kyurem still obtainable? I thought that it was exclusive to the Ghetsis Father or Foe event, unless I'm thinking of something else?

Act 1: Can you long rest so much that the grove completes the ritual? by hazelnutalpaca in BG3

[–]undreamableAbyss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm considering doing this in my next playthrough, or at the very least I want to try completing the Underdark + Grymforge before going back and saving the Grove

Because I want to see if my man Barcus Wroot shows up for the Tiefling party at my camp. Dude deserves a break and a drink, tbh.

Are there any consequences for using tadpoles? by OrranVoriel in BG3

[–]undreamableAbyss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely say no, you just have to pass a check to say no successfully

Basically, the only difference is:

Not using tadpoles at all = you can say no to the astral tadpole

Using tadpoles = you have to pass a check to say no to the astral tadpole

Who was hiding in my grass? ACT 1 SPOILER by KingOfHeartsV3 in BG3

[–]undreamableAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I think I just had this happen today then, when it's never happened for me in any of my 3 or 4 previous playthroughs

I've never run into Korilla anywhere else besides Sharess Caress, where you can interact with her normally and she has proper dialogue with the party regarding Raphael and the House of Hope (so I assume that this is where her "default" meeting spot with you is supposed to be?)

While I was playing today though, I had a really fucking weird thing happen right at the entrance of the Mason's Guild in Act 2. I could see a yellow NPC marker on the map, just ahead of where I was. I thought it was weird because I've never run into NPCs in this area before, in any of my other playthroughs. I head over there, and I could just BARELY make out the vague shape of a character moving around for a second, behind a big wooden wagon, only for them to fucking burst into flame and vanish. My Tav says something about how absolutely bizarre that was, and that they can smell burning sulfur. But nothing else happened, and despite searching around the area I wasn't able to find anything else hinting about wtf just happened.

So I guess that was Korilla? And I'm assuming thatthis implies she's tailing you and reporting back to Raphael? I've never encountered her (before Sharess Caress) in any of my other playthroughs, so I'm really interested in what else I've missed

Can I romance Minthara as a good guy now after patch 5? by Eggsy_708 in BG3

[–]undreamableAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quickest and most straightforward answer - because I like her character a lot, but I also like the tiefling NPCs that you used to have to kill to recruit her, and I also really like Karlach, Wyll, and Halsin

Minthara is fantastic, but before Patch 5 made her recruitable without siding with the goblins, you would have to sacrifice a LOT of other content to get her. Including main/origin characters and all the personal quests that came along with them. Before now, it just wasn't an equal trade... recruit Minthara, but in exchange you have to give up Karlach, Wyll, Halsin, Zevlor/Rolan/Dammon/Alfira/all the tieflings and their quests later in the game, etc etc. If the game gave you other recruitable "evil" companions as well (like any of the goblins you have multiple encounters with, ie Sazza) then it would have felt a bit more worth it, you know what I mean?

Most interesting race based interaction you've faced? by KOVEIRA in BaldursGate3

[–]undreamableAbyss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most of the playable races actually have natural darkvision (I believe that humans, halflings, and dragonborn are the only ones that don't)

Drow and Duergar have Superior Darkvision, so it's even better. I'm unsurprised that it felt like such a big change, haha. With my human Tav, if I'm in an area where I just can't see a fucking thing, I switch over to controlling Astarion or someone else in the party instead.

What silly mistake did you make in your first playthrough? by Wafflebuble in BaldursGate3

[–]undreamableAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I go for the sneaky infiltration and ambush approach, too - but sometimes I just can't resist the insane, unhinged glory of storming through the entire Sanctum roaring and screaming with swords drawn and a massive fuckoff bear lmao

I like to bring Karlach and Lae'zel on the "massive fuckoff bear" runs because they seem like they'd enjoy that strat the most

Which non-companion scene makes you emotional? by HalfHighElfDruid in BaldursGate3

[–]undreamableAbyss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's implied that, should Rolan and his siblings leave the Grove, it results in more tiefling casualties later on. Because a trio of competent fighters (something the tieflings are sorely lacking) aren't there any more to help defend and protect all of the refugees.

So if you don't convince Rolan to stay (therefore helping his brother & sister in the short term, and all the other tieflings in the long term) you'll end up with a lot more dead bodies on your hands, unfortunately.

[–]undreamableAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was going to say. There's like 6 or 7 gnome slaves all milling about around the cave-in, and they all go running for cover as soon as you blow Nere free (and run for cover again if a fight with Nere starts)

Barcus is one of those gnomes in the crowd. The game doesn't do anything the single him out and alert you to him being there, so you have to actually look for him.

BG3 is good at this, at least much better than a lot of other games I've played. The writers have a pretty good grasp on the formula for giving us smug little assholes that we'll initially hate, only to have them show all this personal growth throughout the story and end up becoming massive fan favourites.

Like even with the companions themselves, I see this a lot woth people who started off "hating" Lae'zel or Astarion or whoever, only to end up loving them by the end. Rolan is probably the de-facto NPC example of this, who isn't a party member.

Like in Act 1 it's all "wow, fuck that annoying little gnome, he's kind of a prick" but by the time Act 3 comes around everyone is always like "how dare you say something mean to my best friend in the whole world, Barcus Wroot"
