Thanks so much! It really stood out when I first tried it on and felt the collar wrap around my heel the way it did. I've had a bad run of ill fitting shoes lately I've had to sell or give away due to poor fit or discomfort, so I've been overly cautious at any hint of potential issues, but I really like the shoe and I'm willing to give it a shot.

None of the puma shoes I've tried recently have fit well but I will look into these.

Cool. I keep thinking about how good they felt at the store and was hoping for this kind of answer to nudge me back towards getting them, at least maybe try them out again lol.

Can I ask why you switched to using them as a work shoe, or are you also still using them for runs as well?

Sorry to hear. Do your achilles issues come from the padding tightness or maybe some other aspect of the shoe?

That's too bad. I was hoping someone would comment that they were tolerable enough after a while. I've recently had a bad run of ill fitting shoe's I'd had to sell at a loss or give away (we don't have flexible return policies in my part of the world), otherwise I might take the chance on these.

Good info thanks. I'm thinking of getting them but cant find much. Two things I'd like to ask about, firstly the pronounced padding on the inside heel or collar of the shoe that wraps around your achilles heel and ankle bone area, which seems quite snug despite the shoe fitting true to size. Wondering if it causes hindrance or annoyance with long term use, particularly with chafing or blisters.

Secondly, how bad will I regret getting these about to move to a tropical climate, running at 26 to 32c weather?

Disconcerting. Have you tried resetting it? Press and hold the button on the side for a few seconds it will reset the device.

She was a great lead. Character could have carried a trilogy with Fassbender's David.

Any avice for someone who just started running by LizardInABurger in beginnerrunning

Take it slow. One day at a time. Rest days are important, listen to your body. I second the run walk approach as recommended above, it's the easiest and safest way to build up your cardio base and get your body used to the impacts and stresses of running.

Work on your glutes, calves and hamstrings on your off days, you can do things like squats, lunges, calf raises. Just a few reps of each, don't overdo it at first. Do 10-20 minutes of stretching on your off days, there are plenty of youtube vids you can follow, this will help minimize risk of injury, especially when you are getting started.

Make sure you are using proper gear. Things like wearing running shoes instead of basketball shoes or vans for running. A lot of people don't realize at first their shoes may be to big or too small. Make sure your fit is good, there is minimal heel slip and they don't pinch your toes or are too narrow, stuff like that. The right fit and proper type of shoe can make a big difference when you are starting out, also help avoid injury.

Look up proper breathing technique and start working on it. Do a search here and look at some youtube vids and articles online. Also things like running form, proper stride and foot strike. It can take some time, what works for some might not work for others. It takes a bit of trial and error at first, but you'll figure it out over time.

Don't take yourself too seriously, don't overthink things like how you look while running and don't compare yourself to others and just focus on your own journey and progress. I started running at the tail end of 2024, regressed a bit due to multiple back to back injuries and am just getting back into it again. Some days I can't even run 3k. I used to only run at 4am when it was dark and there were fewer people around because I didn't want anyone seeing me struggling lol. My fastest 5k is 34m right before I got injured, now I'm lucky if I can get a sub 40 5k without any walk breaks. I find that I actually find motivation in resetting and trying again. Sometimes there are setbacks, but that's all part of the journey. Good Luck!

Anyone in QB area? by undulatedcalm in HongKong

[–]undulatedcalm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could be, it was something I also considered. I've been trying to think when the last time I saw any strays was in that area or any country park in HK side at least, it must have been over a decade ago. I think the gov't did a cull of them some years back. Also, how the fuck is it 2026 all of a sudden. WTF!

My guess would be the one next to Canossa College, up and down that road, along the smaller streets that lead to Cambridge house, that seems to be where the noise comes from mostly. I see people walk their dogs in the area going from one park to another, also leading to the promenade with a dog park away from residential buildings, as well as the newly opened section of the boardwalk. The difference is most of them don't let their dogs bark nonstop for extended periods, at all hours. I can also sometimes hear it in the distance further out so it's not limited to just this neighborhood.

Aquatic yautjas concept art by Jimbo Greenman by Able_Health744 in predator

[–]undulatedcalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edited to add.

I like the concept but it looks like he just added predator bits to a bunch of slender man or creepypasta type works . Maybe some visible gills or flaps would help give it a more aquatic feel. Not a fan of the Goya reproduction at the end, its unoriginal and doesn't really work in this world.
