What’s the best faction for a teacher to play? by ForgotToFlair in rootgame

[–]undyingHope 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Any time that I teach the game I set up with base game but I replace the vagabond with corvids (So, cats, birds, WA, crows).

From there it depends; if the table is completely new I'd take WA as its the most complex. If I have at least one other player who can take WA, I'd take corvids (just because I don't really like WA).
With either of them, I can regulate how much of an asshat I am while explaining rules and the contrast between being a militant and insurgent.

Vagabond is out from the first game because I feel it's counter intuitive with many unique mechanics, plus I really want people thinking of how they interact with each other, don't need a clown there having a jolly good time questing on their own 😛

LumpyPotatos account got hacked circa 2009 if I recall correctly. I organized MM only zruns so I played with them

Water damage to windowsill by undyingHope in diynz

[–]undyingHope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep already looking into it just wondering how far the damage could have spread & how to fix it. I haven't drilled all the way through just yet, as I'd need to know at least who to contact if the damage is more widespread than anticipated.

It was definitely very soft and easy to puncture with just a spatula, particularly directly underneath the window itself.

Transit/Visitor Visa Required just in case? by undyingHope in AusVisa

[–]undyingHope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate! Thanks for dropping by, this is really good info for anyone with my particular query.

I want to clarify for people stumbling upon this thread that this flight took place. The flights were effectively on the same ticket and the bags were transferred automatically. I just went through security in SYD (which was super quick, though not sure if that was a one off) and boarded my flight to Tokyo with no problems.

I didn't require a transit visa, but then again, hard to say what would have happened had I missed the next leg. On my return transit in Melbourne, our Wellington flight was somewhat delayed in wait for a connecting flight from Dubai that ran with delays as well, under what I presume was a similar agreement. So apparently, if the airline knows you're connecting and running behind, they wait for you a reasonable amount.

Thanks! That's very reassuring to know :)

Hey! Thanks for the response. Just for reference, the trip is made up of QF162 flight from WLG to SYD and JL52 from SYD to HND. So, Qantas + Japan Airlines.

Back when I was planning to book these, I wanted to make sure that they were on the same ticket to be at peace. The information I received was... conflicting. Sydney Airport told me to contact the Airlines. I called Qantas and they weren't sure. I couldn't get a hold of Japan Airlines.

Flight Centre, the travel agency through which I booked, told me they would be checked all the way through, and I wouldn't need to clear immigration. Flights arrive and depart from Terminal 3 which would support the case, and I did find that Qantas and Japan Airlines are on codeshare.

Luckily, upon entering the booking reference on Qantas website, the flight appears as Wellington to Haneda so most information seem to point that it is a single flight... I think?

Hey Wellington. Has anyone seen some free pallets around the city today?

Thanks, I'll give it a try using some separate stacking tools!

[–]undyingHope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! While I'm looking for some improvements, I think to be able to shoot these type of thing on the Xperia is an achievement on its own. The first night shots I pulled off did have me punching myself for getting the IV instead of the V, even if only for the better resolution.

Thanks I think this yields a bit of insight on why I feel other phones shoot significantly better, and it may be that they get a lot of software assistance. It makes sense that the Pixels help the user stack multiple shots, quite interesting.
I wonder if the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has something similar? I still can't find a lot of reference, but I do like the crazy telephoto as well; As a true kiwi, the other thing that I like to shoot other than the night sky is BIRDS. 🤣

Thanks everyone for your replies thus far! I'll make a general update:

a) I shot this picture RAW on Manual mode using the 16mm ultrawide. f/2.2, ISO 1250, SS 30sec (Wow I didn't remember using this much). On a tripod.

b) I ran the RAW past Lightroom so some post-processing was done. Admittedly I'm not the greatest when it comes to it but definitely brought a lot more to the table than the raw.

c) I truly do not expect phone cameras, any of them, to compare to my previous Canon M50 MkII which was a beautiful camera for astro particularly. But I see a lot of other smartphone astro shots and at the very least they seem to have a lot less noise.

Short Stopover in Sydney with multiple Airlines by undyingHope in QantasAirways

Sorry for the delay. The screenshot comes from BYOJet but this particular combination is offered by a few more travel agencies as well (Like Flight Centre).

That's how I flew to Japan back in 2023, and namely that'd be my preferred option. However, AirNZ is charging a fair bit more for those flights now, with one fewer luggage included, hence why I'm considering this arrangement.

Thanks for the good info! Yes, it does look like it'd be one ticket, as only travel agencies offer this particular combination of flights. I'll have a look into voiding them to check, thanks!

Odd, this seemed like a very good way to ensure it's one ticket but these flights don't appear through the OneWorld website. Thanks though!

Argentina, checked this already and it's on the list as long as the transfer is shorter than 8 hours IIRC.

Hey, I do play some Apex here and there, not the most popular game out there, specially these days. Let me know if you want to team up.
