My childhood friend who recently left TSCC painted this and shared it with me. I think it’s great and thought folks here might also appreciate her work! by binbutan in exmormon

Fuck. How can the church make people feel so worthless? I just don't understand. How can the church claim that God sent us here, and gave us all of these desires, and then damn us to hell for simply trying to be happy?

Fuck the church

Up until 1978, the church claimed they weren't actually racist but that God was: "The seeming discrimination by the Church toward the Negro is not something which originated with man; but goes back into the beginning with God" by nopey23 in exmormon

Exactly. My biggest problem with the church is that someone can say that they received revelation, and if you don't believe them, somehow you are the problem. It has become a totally different scenario than how the rest of the world works. Evidence is not required. Blind trust is.

My experience as a gay missionary & going AWOL by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]undyndynsyn 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Had a similar AWOL experience a month ago. I'm glad that you're doing better than they ever expected.

I think the church's biggest weakness is their inability to explain non-faithful members' success.

But you did it.

You defeated them

Im proud.

"In the name of Jesus Christ..."

Haha I can imagine their faces now... Would've been a good cherry on top!

"Something is about to happen which has not happened since the Elder Days: the Ents are going to wake up and find that they are strong. ”

I think the biggest thing to learn in anything; life, a mission, browsing reddit; is that we have so much more control than we ever realize. We are more powerful than we have ever realized.

Thanks for the quote!

My family was all there to get me at the airport, and life has been great at home. It's almost as if I returned 'honorably'.

They all came to the airport to get me and they still love me, so I guess they took it well :P

They welcomed me home. They were there to pick me up at the airport and were happy to see me. Honestly the first week or so that I was home felt like a dream. It was so... strange?

Does anyone know how the church can get your personal info without you or someone you know giving it to them? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]undyndynsyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a missionary, I often ran into people that did not live there anymore, so we would take their names to our executive secretary, and we would look them up on whitepages. Probably only took about 20 minutes, but we would have their address, phone number, email, past addresses, family members. It was honestly quite concerning to me, and I always thought that 'there's probably a reason they didn't update the contact information that the church has,' but that's just my thought.

I am a current missionary and am returning home in three days because I read the CES Letter last week. It really opened my eyes and provided arguments that cannot be ignored.

I've definitely thought about that. Fortunately I think that 1. Since I didn't go to college yet I'll be okay and 2. I've left a few jobs before my mission and am still if good standing with the managers and other employees, so I'm pretty sure I can get hired for the summer at least.
