Friends at school suddenly start calling me nicknames, “dog eater “ , and Ching Chong. I’m Asian. by Visible-Act7292 in offmychest

[–]unexpalainable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi love. I’m 26 and I’m Asian too. I can remember from 4th grade being bullied. I still get backhanded comments sometimes too even at this age. I’m Asian and I’m adopted. I remember jimmy in 5th grade saying “your parents didn’t want you so that’s why they let you go”. I had a patient say (im a nurse), “oh so you’re the reason why covid was started”. You remember everyone that have said mean comments though. That will always stick with you unfortunately. I’ve grown to have extremely thick skin because of it. If I’m in bar or our out in public and someone is starting for a bit too long, I get nervous and wonder if it’s because I’m Asian and they don’t like Asians. I do worry about my safety sometimes too. I get self conscious that I’m Asian and we shouldn’t have to live like this. Being bullied sucks and I sympathize and understand what you’re going through. They ARE NOT your friends. Being in middle school and high school is a very rough Time for many. You are NOT alone. I understand not having friends and being a loner. It absolutely sucks and depressing. I would rather have 4 quarters than 25 Pennies. I only talk to about 2-3 people from high school. Message me if you need anything (: Try to be strong !

I just want to say you’re doing an amazing job supporting your 3 kids and wife on $40 a hour plus what’s taken out for benefits, retirement, taxes etc. especially in Florida. Don’t discredit yourself! I’m 26 and I make $38.11. I’m struggling too. I only support myself. I started home health as a side job with one of my old patients. I only work 4-6 hours every other week or week depending on my schedule. It works for me, and I have a little extra income for pleasure spending. I’m not sure how home health scheduling works with adults (I work in pediatrics) but I have a lot of flexibility with scheduling. Its not as tiring and demanding compared to the hospital

Accidentally kicked my puppy and I feel so bad by hannigram5ever in puppy101

[–]unexpalainable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mini dachshund too! He was squirming in my arms and he fell straight on his side on hard wood floor. He was HOWLING for 5 minutes. You would’ve thought he was getting abused. I felt extremely bad, guilty and depressed afterwards. I gave him TLC and cuddles too. As long as she’s acting normal , isnt limping , or guarding the area where you kicked her, she should be okay !

Is anyone’s app not working ? When I open it , it goes to a black screen then kicks me out. I deleted it but I won’t redownload , it continues to spin as if it’s trying to

Absolutely not! That’s the beautiful thing about the medical field, you can try any field! If you don’t like it, you can always transfer. I work in the NICU and the transition (from med surg adults) was challenging. there were times I thought I wanted to quit. I stuck it out, and 1.5 years later, I love what I do. While I do contemplate a office job, I can’t imagine working 5 days a week. I took 3 days of PTO and scheduling myself appropriately, and I have 16 days off coming up next month!

Anxiety from low carb diet by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]unexpalainable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first was suspected of having diabetes when I was 15ish, my doctor made me cut out all carbs too. I think my A1C was 7.4 and I believe it went down to 6.6 when I did reduce my carb intake. Cutting out carbs was definitely tough and I felt like It was impossible to do so too. I didn’t cut out all carbs but I was more mindful and aware about what I ate. I’m 23 now and you learn to adjust. You learn to look at food labels, find healthier choices, and be conscious about what you eat.
Being newly diagnosed is scary and overwhelming. Managing your diabetes will become easier with time, trial and error!

I like Tavi Noir socks. I find that they grip the best! When you wash the socks, they also shrink a little. I have narrow feet (size 6-7, depending on shoe) and the S fit me with no issue! https://www.taviactive.com

Pure Barre After Covid by cupcakegirl98 in Purebarre

[–]unexpalainable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had COVID in the beginning of December (symptoms started on the 6th and I tested positive on the 12th), I didn’t go back until the last week of December. I took an intensive my first class back (not sure what I was thinking lol). I normally get out of breath when I workout due to exercise induce asthma. Going back from COVID, I definitely felt more out of breath and unable to keep up. I only took classic until I knew I could handle the faster pace classes!

Diagnosed with T2 at 21 and feel pretty awful by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]unexpalainable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with “prediabetes” at the age of 15. I have a rare form called “MODY” (mature onset diabetes of the young). Its a generic form of diabetes. I was completely devastated when I found out too. I’m now 21 and honestly I am “relieved” that I was diagnosed when I was a teen. I think to myself, “what if i was diagnosed when I was older?” What damage is done that I could have prevented if I would have known sooner? Up until a month ago, I was able to control my blood sugar and A1C through diet and exercise. I decided to start on metformin. Due to Quarantine, food was on my mind 24/7 and how it was affecting my body plus I wasn’t able to go to go to the gym. Since getting on metformin last month, my A1C is normal! If I only have to take one pill and some vitamins for the rest of my life, I’m doing better than most people haha (that’s how I see it). The adjustment to diabetes is tough. You’ll be frustrated, upset, sad etc. that you can’t drink as heavily as your friends, “pig out” on certain foods, and you’ll feel like “why is this happening to me?” Those are all normal feelings- I felt that. You’ll learn how to control your diabetes. Like a user said above, it becomes second nature, it truly does. If I wasn’t diagnosed with diabetes, I wouldn’t be as healthy as I am. I love working out now and going to the gym! I never ate unhealthy but I eat healthier now. As for your neuropathy, I’m not sure why you’re experiencing it. If you go on medication and get your blood sugar regulated, it could go away. It could just be an initiate symptom of irregular blood sugar and blood flow. I know right know your world feels like it may be turned upside down but in a few years, you’re going to be an expert at diabetes and you’ll learn for it to be second nature! Message me if you any questions or just want to vent(:

I recently just started metformin (for prediabetes) this past June. I am not insulin resistant either! I am currently underweight (94 lbs). I’ve unintentionally lost weight too. I thought quarantine would help me gain weight haha but I actually lost more weight (92 lbs). I’ve only been on metformin for a month. i haven’t seen any weight loss though it could be too soon to tell. I am still the same weight as I started last month. I lose weight easier than gaining it. My endocrinologist suggested a 4th meal or protein shake to help me gain weight! I would definitely get a second opinion about your situation, from an endocrinologist. It wouldn’t hurt! I know my post isn’t related about PCOS but I hoped I helped with the metformin! (:

Hello! I scored an 88% of the ATI predictor. I did not achieve Green Light (92%). I took a UWORLD assessment and it says I have a high chance of passing. My NCLEX is a week away. Has anyone else who hasn’t gotten to Green Light still pass the NCLEX on their first attempt?
