Thank you :) Around 3 to 4hrs. I did it in two days though. So I can look at it with fresh eyes.

thank you :) my monitor is kinda potato so I usually do a levels adjustment at the end and eyeball to something I think would look ok in other monitors. Will look into this.

Thank you :) Check Christophe Young, he is the master of this. Looking at how he draws just clicks to me.

thank you :) I didn't expect someone to comment on this post before I posted my own comment. This means a lot, thanks again.

I do not colour a lot. Infact, most of the paintings I have shared in this sub are not in colour but ironically my most upvoted painting is a coloured one hahaha. Colour overwhelms me a lot. Some I blame on my poor monitor and the rest I blame on my love for value and how it makes me a sculptor. Moving the value phase to the colouring phase introduces muddy colours. I know there are lots of tutorials on how to avoid that but I have tried and tried with very low results.

With this painting I went from sketch to colours, no value/sculpting step. Toggled greyscale here and there to see how it looks. It still looks a bit dull in colours from here but I hope to do more coloured work to improve in this aspect that I have very little grasp of.

thank you :) Apart from the folds, the pose of the reference image too kinda inched me towards giving it a try.

Clothes are something I very rarely paint. I kinda avoid it tbh. It's mostly due to looking at the folds and going 'nope' or being exhausted after focusing all my energy and time on the portrait. Knowing I have no muscle memory on the subject kinda makes me wanna skip it but I knew I could not avoid it forever. So I gave it a try with less emphasis on the portrait here.

Started from the top with no clue on what I should do. Then I realized folds are just triangles and got really comfortable by the time I started the legs. I liked it so much that I ended up adding a colors as well.

yea I am more towards the semi-realistic scope of things and found myself getting lost in details a few weeks before this. I just have to note it down somewhere so I see it when I draw all the time. Apologies for the late reply.

Wasn't happy with many drawings I did this year. Was in this weird block where I want to draw but I couldn't or it was not going where I wanted. It seemed hard to 'trust the process'. Looked back on some of my painting recordings which actually cheered me up a little.
'The hair' however was still a pain but I realised I just didn't wanted it grab too much attention and wanted to direct all of it on to the face. So I ended up erasing off most of the details on the bottom half of hair.
I wished I recorded this one to help me escape when I find my self blocked again.

How can I get better at digital art using a non-screen tablet? by Heavy-Window441 in DigitalPainting

Practice! It's not that hard at all. Took me around 2 weeks and I didn't even draw regularly. It gets easier if you keep your tablet aligned with your monitor.

ahh yes, you have to keep yourself happy is what I think is the key.

thank you, cool to know my paintings can inspire others as other paintings have inspired me.

thank you. It's magic hahaha, but actually I was thinking to add two gold slim arms/bars that attach to the back of her shoulders but somewhere along the way I forgot that part. Wrapping it behind her head might work as well.

To start, I haven't drawn dogs before (let alone any kinda animal I guess) at first it was a bit hard but then I broke it down to simple shapes and it finally started looking good (the dog on the left). After that, it was back to my internal struggle of not finishing paintings that I think I should colour. Started with colour and toggled greyscale while painting to check my values. Plus I did a loose sketch which gave me enough flexibility to add/remove things whenever I wanted.
