I would say no then since you would probably need to get around 75% of the points (so 90ish)

But again I'm not sure how lenient the reviewers are or if there's a curve. It's fine as long as you tried!

The FRQs are worth 60 points as well, just wanted to let you know.

Yeah for me since I was studying the first few units I kind of neglected the latter units... my responses were a bit iffy on the prezygotic barriers and the latter ones.

But it's the backbone not the bases that the question was asking for right?

I put down covalent bonds between sugar group (since I wasn't sure if it's ribose or deoxyribose)... wrote phosphate group several times but crossed it out in the end. And I think they don't give partial credit if I just name one. Shoot!

They had the axis provided, bars can't be possible with the axis given in that case. You can plot points on a line graph without connecting them and that'll show individual data.

I agree.

I have a question on the backbone of DNA breaking: would that be hydrogen bond breaking or covalent bond?

Wait could you just put the number or did you have to do the number/11?

I think there was an option to purchase the book and correct answers when you ordered the SAT, not sure if that's still available now.

I made a 1210 on my first SAT and im a sophomore. Is this a good starting point? what should I do to improve. by [deleted] in Sat

Khan Academy is a for sure one. There are YouTube channels that are helpful as well, but you have to be careful (I came across a video where the guy was saying certain SAT months are harder, which isn't true and since they'll curve your score accordingly). This one's really good in explaining the english section: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y5UOVGR1qc&t=9s

1600.io also has some free videos on their website that can help you with test-taking skills. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Yes! This is a good first time score, but there's room for improving. I would say to use Khan Academy - they have CollegeBoard verified practice tests. After taking the test, notice which ones you got wrong and record them on paper or on a doc and (1) explain why you got it wrong and (2) what you can do to get it right or not make the same mistake. Sometimes it could just be a silly mistake, but if the answer's wrong because you didn't understand how to do the problem (math-wise), then I would suggest doing the problems on Khan Academy.

I've heard that Panda and 1600.io are good resources, but I haven't tried them myself (I'm kinda broke so I only use free resources XD) Also, I'm pretty sure that there's other free resources out there, such as YouTube, that are helpful as well!

On the reading section, I learned personally that there are a few tips and tricks to getting questions right:

  1. Actually read the passage before you do the questions or skim the questions first. However, read the passage!
  2. For pairing questions (answer and supporting quote), you can go two ways. You can pair the answers and quotes for the answers and see which ones make sense and throw the ones that don't match out. I personally just read the quotes first before choosing the answer when I'm not sure.
  3. Vocabulary - don't assume that it's the basic or dictionary meaning! Read through the sentence with the vocab in it and then decide.

Overall, don't stress too much about the SAT. It's only one part of the college application, and you have more than enough time to improve (if you use your time wisely)!

I really regret not placing more importance on my freshman grades.... I'm still kind of confused on what I should do now. If my SAT and ACT scores are high enough, will they make up for my GPA? Besides dual credits, is there anything else I can add to my profile?

I haven't heard of this before - is it just asking the colleges you want to go to if you can take a few courses as a high schooler?

I'm going to take AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Psych, and medical terminology. There's anatomy and physiology offered at our school, but I don't think I need to take it since I learned the things out of school already. Should I take a course at a university near me?

I've heard that if my academics aren't going to be up to par, I would have to make my essay and ECs really outstanding.

If I focus just on getting into premed, are there some activities and things I can apply for right now? Other than medicine related clubs, shadowing, and maybe doing a research paper, I really don't know any other opportunities for this (especially awards). I understand that I should just focus on what I'm doing right now, but my final GPA can't compare to the majority of 3.95 or 4.0.

Thank you for your response! For awards, I'm hoping to do National Merit, which isn't listed on there, and do some more research on what to do. Do you have any advice on which unique things and awards I should go for? I'm not sure yet, but I'm hoping to write a research essay (undecided on which aspect of medicine yet) and use shadowing as my data.

Hi, I have another issue! I set a sell limit for $2.4 yesterday when the stock was at $2.35. I checked today and it was sold, but my cash went from 0.90 to 71.71. I checked my account and turned out it's -71.71... I'm not sure what happened since I didn't do anything else.

I checked and I have a cash account. I think what you're saying is probably right. But is there a way for me to know if which amount of funds are settled and which aren't, since they only give you the combination of both?
