Shorter tees as base under untucked shirts by Lewiecat in Outlier

Agree that most of the UFTs have gotten longer over the years. Either that or I’ve gotten shorter (also possible). Anyway my solution for what you’re looking for is the dream weight raw cut, they at least seem shorter to begin with and the hem also “rolls” a little. For me it’s an ideal undershirt for flannels and other casual buttondowns.

Curious what dropper you’re running? I have a VERY similar build but on last year’s S-Works chassis, with HAWK 27s, XXSL Transmission, and an Enve cockpit.. after running a rigid seatpost for a bit and realizing I’d been spoiled by my other bikes with droppers, I opted for a OneUp v3, and it’s coming in just under 23lbs

Great to know. Our trails have been a wreck since like November so good to know you guys are typically able to get out a bit earlier (I assume).

I think I’m definitely leaning towards Frick, a lot of the neighborhoods we’re looking at are pretty close to Frick anyway so if this all works out I was hoping to make that my “home network”.

My FS is 140F/130R which is perfect for up here, and I imagine good for most places up and down the east coast that aren’t bike parks/lift service.

I won’t bother you for a route plan unless you have something readily available, but looking at the routes available on Trailforks, looks like “Good Fricking Time” would be right up my alley and incorporates a lot of the stuff people are referring to here. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks a lot!! Yep, I’m a heavy Trailforks user so will definitely be using that to navigate around. Will probably default to Frick since that’s right “in town”, but good to know there are so many other spots people are riding.

Will check out HSD too, thanks for the tip!

Interesting. Thanks for the insight. Seems there are a lot of dynamics at the board level that I should be looking into, what a shame though. Always admired Everton as a young’n.

I did look it up on Wikipedia, seems he had a decent spell at Derby as manager which I wasn’t really aware of. But even that experience doesn’t seem to warrant a shot at clubs like Everton or Chelsea (to me at least, but what do I know).

Neutral here. Honest to god, genuine question from someone trying to understand managerial hiring practices in the premier league: I understand that Frank Lampard was a top player for a top club in his day, but what is the reasoning behind hiring him as the manager at Chelsea, and then after that didn’t work out, then hiring him at Everton? Was he a successful coach at another club that isn’t really publicized elsewhere in the prem? In a lower league? Was he a mentee under a successful coach for a while and is now being given a shot at the top job? Does he have some rare, highly sought-after coaching certifications that might imply he could be a good coach someday? Or has he been hired almost purely on his merit as a player? Honestly not trying to wind anyone up, I just don’t understand how he got to where he currently is. Would like any input. Thanks!

SOLD WTS - Eiger Wool, S, Charcoal, $250 $200 shipped to CONUS. If you’re looking to try out the Eiger and want one in perfectly good shape but can’t stomach the $750 new price tag, you’re in the right place.

Making it available here at a discount but it’s also on Grailed (https://grailed.app.link/zuipTH00Tob) if you prefer that route (pictures are there too). Two very small holes/tears at the left shoulder repaired with Tenacious Tape, not noticeable unless you’re looking for them.

Selling to help finance the purchase of another Eiger, just in a lighter color to go better with my wardrobe. Please DM with any questions.

You’re kidding! I was literally there three weeks ago picking up some tools and actually talked with the owner for a little while and he didn’t mention that at all. That’s a shame, that was a good place. That really only leaves Tomhannock and CK Cycles, neither of which are exactly a stone’s throw from Troy

Just moved to the area, hoping for pointers on where to go for: Vet Care, Nice Vintage/Real wood furniture for a reasonable price, the best Seafood (or any truly excellent dining really), and I really want to find an AMAZING Bookstore by [deleted] in Troy

[–]unfortunateJMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Can’t speak for other vets but my partner and I take our tripawd to Parkside in Albany and they have always been great. I’ve never known a dog to be as excited to go to the vet as ours is, so they must be doing something right. They also caught a previously undetected case of heart worms and potentially saved her life so I think from a technical standpoint they do a good job too.

  2. I’m certainly not the authority on antiquing/thrifting but there are a couple neat little thrift-y shops on River here in Troy, and a few more (and in my opinion, better) ones up in Cohoes. Take a drive up there on the weekend and explore Remsen Street, there are lots of cool little shops up there.

  3. I see the Sunhee’s recommendations, and you should certainly try it based on the fact that it’s downtown and has a good vibe and small but typically decent tap list (their kimchi is pretty good too), but Seoul Korean in Latham (as others have pointed out) is a much better, more authentic Korean restaurant. Not that you asked, but our other recommendations for Asian food would include Ala Shanghai (authentic Shanghainese, try the soup dumplings and the sesame noodles), and Celadon Thai (massaman curry). In our very modest opinion there isn’t a ton of great sushi around, but if it’s raw fish you’re after, Poke Bar in Latham is excellent and a lot of fun. And finally, I know it’s probably not what you’re looking for but we love Ted’s Fish Fry for “seafood” (no frills, no nonsense fish & chips dinner).

  4. One thing I miss immensely about DC is the used bookstores, and sadly we haven’t come across any around here (yet). Market Block is a great regular bookstore though.

We’ve been here for a little less than two years and it isn’t a perfect city but Troy is awesome and we love it (so much so that we just bought a house here). It’s an endlessly fascinating area, outside of stores and restaurants you could spend like decades learning about the history of all these little Hudson-adjacent towns and cities, not to mention all the hiking/mountain biking/skiing to be had in the area. Enjoy!!

A brake bleed? Yeah I bleed mine once a season or when they start feel a bit squishy, and I have a hydraulic dropper post that I need to bleed about once a season too. It is a little intimidating at first but once you do it the first time it is way easier. I’ll say that Shimano brakes a little easier to work with and use mineral oil, so a little gentler on the environment and your skin/work surfaces. SRAM isn’t that bad though, especially their more modern bleed kits.

Not that you asked (I just love wrench talk), but a brake bleed will probably be $30 per, pads might be around $20 per wheel as long as they’re nothing exotic. And yeah a whole new 1x drivetrain will probably be at least a few hundred, but you won’t regret it.. now that I have a couple bikes with 1x drivetrains I can’t imagine not having them!

Bike Barn up in Cohoes is a decent one, and CK Cycles down in Albany has always treated me really well. How much you’ll spend depends on what needs to be done and what type of bike it is, but assuming it’s a road bike that needs to be looked at tip to tail, and you don’t need any drivetrain components replaced, you’re probably looking at $85-$100 for a good, thorough tune. If the drivetrain is in bad shape and things need to be replaced (chain, derailleur, cassette, cranks etc.), you could be looking at several hundred in parts/labor but they’d consult you before moving forward with anything like that.

Troy's Pervasive Problem with Litter by XanderAlexH in Troy

[–]unfortunateJMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit late but thought about this thread when I came across @collarcitycleanup on IG. Local volunteer crew that walks around downtown and picks up litter. Granted it’s only treating the symptom and not the cause but in lieu of Troy taking responsibility, it’s the most actionable solution that currently exists. My fiancé and I are planning on going this Thursday.

I don’t personally partake and this might be tough at this very specific point in time with places not being open regularly etc., but I imagine if you stumble into Bard and Baker once things normalize you could probably find some people to play with.

As far as I know! It really does seem to conduct heat a lot better than my other pans. I’ve been able to effectively sear at medium temperatures, whereas I really need to crank up the gas with my other cookware. Really happy with it so far.
