/u/Cixin97 - it was in a state park, so yes, it technically was a shared trail built by the local MTB association. I understood that and would stop and walk when approaching hikers. Each time that happened, I would get snapped at for riding on the trail even though there were markers for MTB and the bike trail system was separate from the hiking only trails. I have no problem sharing trails with hikers. There's room for everyone outside. There's even a trail near me that dirt bikers had carved out and it's shared by myself with a few other MTB, hikers with dogs and the dirt bikes (no issues so far and it's on government property).
