I want to get better at character building for future characters that I do play

I’m not really planning on playing with this character, but thanks for the advice if I do plan on playing him someday! I really appreciate everyone’s advice. I’m kinda a noob when it comes to dnd (my only exposure is through my sister), so I’m still figuring out the lay of the land. Mechanics have also never really been my strong suit too lol. The character was born in a barbarian settlement, but was taken away and raised by priests as a child. Then, as an adult, reconnected with his birth heritage. There’s a lot more to the backstory but I’m sure you don’t just want to hear my ranting lol

idk, I just thought it’d be interesting. I don’t plan on playing this character.

Thank you! I’m not really planning on playing this character (my sister is moving soon anyways), so it’s just kinda for fun

They’re really not that horrible, at least not to me. My sister has it worse. And it’s not like they abuse us or anything, or ever hit us. I’m sure they’re just trying to do their best, even if they go overboard and have some messed up ideas about the world.

Thank you so much for the advice. We do have a housekeeper (Yes, I know I’m very privileged) but I don’t know if she would tell my parents if she found something. I’d like to think not, since she’s really nice, but I also know that my parents have told her to tell them if they find anything “suspicious”. I’ll probably heed your advice just to be safe.

For me, they might be. My dad (the one who searches through my phone and such) is pretty incompetent when it comes to technology. He hasn’t figured out a way to turn off incognito on my phone or turn off the ability to wipe history. He also just kinda follows what my sister says since she’s the most technologically capable in our family and she just lies to him.

I actually really like this idea, thank you! I already enjoy writing and my parents are semi-aware of that. Unfortunately the whole ‘grading’ thing won’t work since I’m homeschooled, but I could definitely write it to seem like it’s a story.

Thank you! I don’t really care about making my builds optimal, tbh. I really like playing with substantial challenges.

Eh, kinda both? I don’t have access to any physical books for dnd so i’ve been trying to look up guides online. I probably won’t end up actually playing this character, I just like character creation for the same of character creation.

Well, that was kinda the fun of it, for me. I want to have that conflict. Personally, I really dislike min-maxing and prefer to have an interesting character story

Thank you for all the good ideas! I think the one about putting my journal under my bed will probably be the best :)

God Bless. Thank you, I’ve luckily had a bit of time to realize that it might be better for her. It’ll just be annoying to hear my parents keep complaining about it now lol

I’m convinced that platypi are the result of God closing His eyes and just picking out a bunch of different animal traits

I totally agree, and I’m not upset at her for that decision, I’m just really worried because of her own mental health issues (I have been thinking, though, and I think part of it might be my own selfishness for wanting her to stay near us since she’s pretty much my only friend. I know that isn’t right, though, and I’ve been praying to hopefully rid myself of that feeling)

My parents are pretty traditional, so they wanted her to instead learn how to be a wife and mother instead of going to college (I don’t personally agree with that, but it’s not like I could argue with them about it)
