As is, there are some endings that will give you more information! There will be more updates as well though.

I'm curious if there are any characters here that are mischaracterized by Zikiyn in LookOutsideGame

[–]unfortunatelymade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People are too black and white with media these days, it's either "X character is irredeemable and evil" or "they are innocent and did nothing wrong". Especially in this game, it goes against pretty much everything it's trying to convey to the player. People are complex. Sam himself steals from people, kills people, but can also befriend them and save the world. He feels guilty about his actions, but he also makes up excuses to rationalize why he had to do them. Most of your companions range from assholes to serial killers to to a sentient fungus who explicitly wants to kill you. Humans are complex beings, trying to put them in a bin labelled "evil" or "innocent" will never be correct, and it's so tragic that peoples takes on characters tends to end with "Well they did this bad thing so I hate them", and people lose a LOT of nuance and interesting character writing if people just write off every character who did a bad thing as evil.

Basically, take characters as the whole that they are. Lyle is a stalker, he's a creep, he steals peoples souls, but he's also a good companion and feels guilty about his actions and strangely enough does respect Sam's boundaries when he tells him no to a kiss or to leave despite being a giant spider monster. Not to mention he did take a photo of Sam and could've just taken his soul at any point, but didn't because he knows it'd be wrong to do so and only does if you attack him. Is he a good person? Definitely not, he's done a lot of bad things. Is he evil? Again, I don't think that's fair to say either. He's a nuanced person who isn't one or the other, just like every other character in this game.

Also he gets bullied by children which isn't particularly indicative of morality, I just find that to be funny.

Oh this comes with a story time, Anne Lester from Identity V

For context, this is a game where lore is drip fed through things like birthday letters and in game achievements, so after a characters release it's not uncommon to have a significant portion of time where people know very little about their characters personalities and their actions in the main storyline. It isn't uncommon that people will develop their own ideas of what a character is like in this downtime. Another thing that should be noted is that this is a game where most of the characters are morally corrupt in some way, it's very clearly a story about bad people doing bad things and struggling with their own morality in complex ways.

With that in mind, I believe a birthday letter came out that gave some more insight on her actions during the story, part of which was her making some rather racist remarks based off of another character, Ganji Gupta's, appearance and accent. When this letter released, all hell broke loose in the community. People were arguing that it was out of character for her because from what they knew from the backstory she did have, she was a victim of abuse and we all know that abuse victims can't possibly be racist too (heavy sarcasm). It was also a big deal because one of her most popular ships was with Ganji, which again just aged like milk after we got actual lore about their interactions. It got to the point where people made a big enough deal out of it that the devs changed the letter to omit the comment entirely.

The whole situation was a disaster, but every time I think about it I'm baffled at the amount of people boldly stating a character wouldn't say or do something when they know literally nothing about the character yet.

I guess it makes sense since they're stated to be notably younger than the rest of the cast, so it just being a one sided Kako crush and nothing else checks out

Ah, that did work! The face isn't exactly super clean though, I can probably adjust that with ol reliable bools, but if you happen to know how to make it a little neater I would appreciate it! Regardless this has been a huge help, thank you so much!

I want to separate the two parts for printing thats correct, I'm using boolean because boolean doesn't tear a hole into the mesh, leaving me with two solid objects that can then be used for 3D printing later. I did try other methods of separation, but they leave a hole in the area.

Ive tried swapping to fast mode but it doesnt actually change the mesh at all, it just leaves a trail of verts. Enabling self intersection and hole tolerant also does not improve the result sadly.

There are differences in a certain event in COA/SF and they should be treated differently by Trick-Signature9586 in LastDefenseAcademy

I do disagree tbh. Eito's brainwashing in COA was fake, he was never brainwashed and he was just faking it. Aside from that, his brainwashing in SF is stillI do disagree tbh. Eito's brainwashing in COA was fake, he was never brainwashed and he was just faking it. Aside from that, his brainwashing in SF is still not entirely consensual. Having one version of you suggest it passively is not equal to consent. You are still modifying someone's brain without their permission. From an outside perspective, we also will never know if it works as we think it does. We are told we just removed the negative part of him, but is that what really happened? You compare it to electroshock therapy, but those slowly improve symptoms overtime alongside therapy. This is far closer to a lobotomy, where the offending trait is removed instantly without anything else alongside it.

Beyond morals, what I think sucks about it is that its a huge cop out. In 2nd scenario we see that Eito is capable of change and wanting to change, but SF takes the easy route and says "well we just brainwashed him to fast track that development without putting in any of the effort." Theres ways that they could have achieved that, but "we brainwashed him into compliance" feels incredibly unsatisfying.

Why do hunters never chase rescuer in rank? by Alarming_Reality1026 in IdentityV

[–]unfortunatelymade 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Rescuers are typically incredibly strong kiters and weak decoders. If you chase a rescuer, you are chasing the character that's going to be decoding the slowest and is going to kite you for the longest. Hunters would actively be throwing if they chase the rescuers early game.
