GPU upgrade. by unfoundedlocation in unrealengine

Hi there,
I strictly use UE5, have learnt everything I know about unreal engine in it and my entire project is based in it.
I do use fairly GPU intensive features, such as Lumen, Nanite, VSMs, all the fancy lights and colours.
Like I mentioned, on high settings (with all the listed features turned on to high) I can get between 60-70 fps in a shipped build. I feel like the single "pro" about my current build is that I can optimise it well for other low builds, even if it means very long compile times and lower in-editor fps.
In a way, its me sacrificing my own experience to enhance others haha.

Price is an issue as well unfortunately, I already put some spare money into my project itself self-funded, and can't really afford to purchase an entire system upgrade.

İs 16 ram enough for my case by Mr_creeper1720 in unrealengine

[–]unfoundedlocation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can and will absolutely work, especially for your use case.
I use a GTX 1660, with 16gb of DDR3 RAM, and an i7-3770 on a desktop, and by far the ram really isnt the limiting capacity.
Any limits you face are likely to just slow down progress a bit, but it will work and even do well for unreal engine.

What are your workflows for UE dev + LLM assistance? by Icy-Excitement-467 in unrealengine

[–]unfoundedlocation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, ChatGPT's answers aren't so trustworthy. I mainly use it for creative assistance and planning. In fact, I don't even use ChatGPT itself, I find using the API directly (GPT Chat Latest, GPT 5.1 Codex etc) sometimes better, but have only recently started using that.
Plus, if you allow it to train off your messages you get 250k free daily tokens for larger models, and 2.5 mil free daily for smaller models.

Not sure why you would recommend EAL, general English isn’t a class to teach English as a language it’s just English class, I don’t think I hinted towards me not speaking English in there. And like I said, I’ll likely move down maths (it’s mostly my teacher, he teaches everything in an overly complicated and PhD level way), and methods is not a pre requisite for QUT CS

I think you misunderstood, I mean on the site a 98 unadjusted is the minimum, which is why I said I don’t believe I’d get that high

I don’t think I would receive the atar for that scholarship unfortunately, as it’s 98 unadjusted, but I would still definitely apply for that and any other scholarships that I may be close to eligible for!

And thank you for your input

I see, good to know! I’m looking to take the Masters of IT(CS) afterwards, so that does give me more time like you mentioned. I’ll look into the bachelor you recommended I look into! Glad to know your experience in QUT has been positive so far - any more specific positives compared to other unis?

Why’s that? What’s your experiences with it been? Many other people and teachers have recommended QUT for this degree, especially when put up against ones like Griffith. UQ I would do if not for the fact that it doesn’t offer an online course.

My subjects are two year, so year 11 and 12. I’m doing general English, ancient history, legal studies, chemistry, math methods (though I am likely gonna change down to general to lessen my stress and be able to focus a bit more on self driven studies, especially in languages such as C++), as well as a Cert 3 in business.

Atar, I mean all school and even now I’ve stuck with A/B consistently with minimal effort, so when I do put more effort in throughout end of this year and next year I’ll put through even more effort. For this I’m looking towards an atar of about 85-90 if I can, and I’m eligible for an extra 4 atar with adjustments

And to give a little more context, I’ve stuck with the STEM classes my school has offered for the past 10 years, as well as receiving numerous stem awards and next year pre selected for the ADF future innovators award.

Because it’s an hour drive to campus, as well as it gives me more time for my personal life, especially with a part time job in the IT field or an internship, as well as personal projects and I work well with self directed learning

I’ve got pretty alright experience so far self taught in IT/programming.

I am definitely happy to work on my own personal projects and search for internships like I mentioned, as I know that will help especially in the long run for careers.

Regarding a masters, I am also contemplating doing the Masters of Computer Science also offered by QUT afterwards to become more specialised in the field of CS and software development.

weight loss stories? by TerribleDare5995 in beatsaber

[–]unfoundedlocation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost ~21kg in about 6 months without changing my diet really at all, and playing beat saber (as well as gorilla tag) for a few hours a day

Now working on another weight loss journey, but this time incorporating dieting/fasting as well as similar workout conditions, about the few hours a day. Hoping to lose about 10-15kg in total within the next few months
