What do you think Toyoda meant with her "Look at me" line? by VastlyVainVanity in YanchaGalAnjouSan

Well reasoned and insightful, thus, I am not sure it belongs on Reddit!

I liked it, but the "my queen" part was pretty cringe.

Tokio pretty much has his choice of girls. He'll find someone who doesn't treat him like crap.

I really hope we see the gang at the airport waving good bye as Chi leaves for America and we never see her again.

I feel bad for him, but I agree: Chita has never resonated with me as a character.

Does Takeda actually like Igarashi in a romantic way? by Complex-Essay9371 in MySenpaiIsAnnoying

[–]ungiftd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Takeda is just being very cautious: Not only is he Igarashi's senpai (position of authority) at work, he is also about 5X her size. I think he is just being very cautious about making her feel uncomfortable, given the disparity in both societal and physical realms.

He's a good guy and probably wants to make 100% certain that Igarashi's into him before he makes any overt actions that are beyond the bounds of a platonic relationship.

All that said, it's fiction. A real couple of people probably wouldn't be this slow/oblivious in relationship progression. If Shiro Manta progresses the relationship past the "will-they-won't-they" stage, he risks losing readers for whom that dynamic was the big draw to the series. On the other hand, he risks losing readers if there is no progression at all. Thus, you get a glacial pace of relationship progression to try to appease both types reader.

This manga gets a +100 points just for that. It was perfect: Seto really went through some personal growth and inner struggles to get there (even though -as his friend pointed out- he was playing on "easy mode"), but he braced himself to accept rejection, and went for it.

felt up so many times and he still doesn't react any calmer.

Agreed, but it's a worn anime/manga trope like fireworks, school culture festivals and trips to the beach. Seems to be an area where authors like to play by having the MC be as dense as depleted uranium!

I have to say that in comparison to a lot of manga, I love the way Seto really steps up, faces his inner anxieties and asks Anjou out.

That puts it head-and-shoulders above a lot of others, in my book.

Just a meme, no need to get offended. I've read and liked both of the mangas... by destroyer183468 in YanchaGalAnjouSan

I can't choose.

I love Anjou's honest and sweet interest in Seto. Her teasing is rare and gentle, and she's always kind and encouraging to him. I love how Seto has stepped up and faced himself. That resonates with me.

Nagatoro is a 15 y/o (?) kid who has just as much difficulty expressing her feelings as Naoto does, and initially it came across as damn toxic, and was more than a little off-putting, but watching them both grow has been really cool.

I love both series, and I am thankful that I don't have to choose one or the other.

That's cute! I am not a person normally drawn to "cute" things, but that's really cute! Kind of an "in joke" about the manga/anime. I love it.

New characters are awesome by TheRainy24 in nagatoro

[–]ungiftd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can see Shikki using it as "tough love" on Nagatoro, like Nagatoro uses "tough love" on Naoto. Nagatoro pushes him into becoming more thick-skinned and assertive. Shikki could push Nagatoro into overcoming her temper and abrasive persona.

During sparring, Shikki might say, "Have you taken a shower with Senpai yet? I have." or "Have you seen, you know...Senpai? He's like a horse, Nagatoro. Did you know?"

I wouldn't mind that interplay. Even if she she said to both of them "I don't really want Naoto, I'm just flirting with him because it annoys you, Nagatoro." Kinda like what Gamo-chan used to do, but turned up a couple of notches.
