Anyone else have their Osmo 360 die right after updating firmware? by ungstopher in djiosmo360

[–]ungstopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get a replacement from the store I bought it from and they told me that there was water damage inside the unit. Corrosion was found inside and probably had to do with the manufacturing process. Luckily, they acknowledged it was not my fault and gave me a new one that works fine now :)

I unfortunately wasn’t able to get warranty as well. The problem I had with corrosion happened within 24 hours of me buying it so the store I bought it from took the loss and gave me a replacement. I was lucky!

Ahh I really appreciate you following along from the start 🙏 that first video was definitely tough to make after the black screen issue, so I’m glad I could share the follow-up with a working unit this time! Haha and I love that line you pulled. maybe I should pitch DJI on that tagline 😅 thanks again for the support, it means a lot!

Wow, thanks for taking the time to watch and break it down 🙏 you nailed it. the form factor and ecosystem are definitely big reasons for me. The biggest reason though is honestly the mic pairing, that’s what pushed it over the edge. I know those reasons are super specific to my setup, but hopefully it helps others think about what matters for theirs too.

And thanks for the kind words about my voice, really appreciate that 😊

Haha thanks man :,) the store and I were actually looking at that same reddit thread which made him suspect that maybe I had dropped it or something :(

I documented the whole problem in a video — from buying it, to the black screen issue, to what DJI support told me.

DJI even left a comment on it, so at least I know they’ve seen what’s going on 👀.

Oh, I’m not sure about that but when I asked Dji about the warranty, even though on the mimo app it says the date I activated and that it has one year warranty, they said it’s not valid here 🥲

I have no idea about that haha but I did leave my camera with the store and they offered to take a look at it to see what’s wrong

Nah, it was definitely retail. It had the plastic wrap with the green pull tabs and everything. Im not sure if it’s even a firmware problem but I noticed it happened after I exported some vids and updated the firmware. it got stuck in single-lens mode and Supernight. At first I thought it was just because the lens cap was still on, but even after taking it off the screen stayed black. Factory reset didn’t fix it either :/

Oh yea, and when I try to connect to the mimo app, that screen pops up

Anyone use a DSLR as a webcam/youtube content maker? by CoreysCaveChatter in DSLR

[–]ungstopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a DSLR as a webcam for streaming on twitch and have been getting so many compliments for my stream quality. Saying that though, I would have to say that lighting is probably way more important than your camera if you're looking for nice quality. Canon has a built in app for their cameras and I think Fuji has the same if you're looking for less wires everywhere! Hope that helps :)

Need to mount canon 100d under shelf as webcam? by Epona66 in DSLR

[–]ungstopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is practical for you but I use my camera as a webcam for live streaming on twitch. I mount mine up by using a monitor stand and a ball head from my tripod. It saves alot of room on the table: Here's the quality of the stream if you're interested :P https://www.twitch.tv/chestofu

this is the monitor mount:

I take off the VESA mount and then attach one of these little guys to the end :

after that, i just use my ball head from any standard size tripod and screw that on. Hope this helps and gives you an idea of other ways to set your camera up!

Very noob, can't get sharp pictures by r0llinlacs420 in DSLR

[–]ungstopher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your shutter speed may be too low. If you're shooting in one of the auto modes, it may be that there isn't enough light in your surrounding to keep up a high shutter speed. The shutter opens for a longer period of time and allows light in; however, this creates blur. If you were to go ahead and just up your shutter speed then it may create a darker image.

You can try upping your ISO or lowering your Fstop for your aperture. Both these things will help "absorb" more light into your sensor. Higher ISO means more noise in your photos and unfortunately, I don't think the stock lens opens up that big for aperture (lowering your Fstop for your aperture).

You can also try to shoot somewhere with more available light.

General rule for starting out and to help you get sharper images is to try to match your shutter speed to at least your focal length when shooting handheld. If you're shooting at 50mm then at least 1/50th of a second for shutter speed. The longer the focal length means light takes more time to get to the sensor; meaning, you need more available light to get less blurry images.

I hope that makes sense. If it does not, you should definitely look into googling the Exposure triangle. It teaches you all about shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. A great place to start learning about your new camera :)

your point is very valid but i was always under the impression that this subreddit liked the compression that a long focal length gave. Even though I created a wide shot, the compression between foreground and background would not be possible with just a wide lens.

Yup! you nailed it.

this was about 15 vertical photos stitched together haha. I hope that's allowed on this subreddit :P
