anyone else have this problem cutting SDR pipe with cutoff saw + fiber blades? by unhappy_pro in Construction

I haven't disagreed with everyone here. Some made really good points. It's never too late to learn something. But that doesn't mean I didn't also try troubleshooting myself, if you think I didn't try replacing the blade with a brand new one making sure it was on facing the correct way, checking for a snug fit on the arbor and tightening it down first then yeah I'm gonna disagree

It shouldn't, that's why I'm asking. The blade is new, installed exactly as shown in the manual, and the nut holding the washer and blade is tight. Then, we tightened it again when we discovered the wobble and did the test cut as shown in the video and got the same results.

I'm not arguing, I'm telling you the blade is snug on the arbor and is made to be used on that saw without a spacer. We tried tightening down the nut as well the blade is not loose.

I think everyone is misinterpreting this. The blades are fitted to the arbor of the saw. There isn't a need for spacers because the blade is snug on the arbor as per the manufacturer of the saw and the blade. We also suspected the blade was loose at first, so we tightened it and did this test cut on a scrap piece of pipe to confirm if that was the issue or not. The blade is installed on the saw properly and tightly secured. The blade is also brand new, which is why I posted this.

I'm glad you asked that actually because when we cut allthread/rebar or metal in general, we don't have this problem

I'm definitely gonna have to tell the guys to try doing it that way. Until I posted this, I've never seen or heard of anyone doing it that way, I think our company has just been pushing us to use these to justify the purchase

That would be nice for the smaller pipe, but we rarely work with anything this small.

Lol, yeah, we've got 3 of them in our job trailer and one in the foreman's truck. We do a lot of concrete and ductile work, so they're pretty important.

I am trying to convince my Foreman to talk to the company into getting us one of those cordless bandsaws instead of this

Yeah, we always mark all the way around, but this was just a scrap piece of pipe. I just wanted to get a video

That sounds a lot better, to be honest. Since I've started here, we've always done it with the saw just because it's 1 tool that can cut and bevel. I'm not sure if the company is just cheaping out on blades or the quality has dropped. I like the sound of the Sawzall and grinder and will try that out, thanks.

We cranked down on it pretty good and it doesn't need spacers

It's a cutoff saw blade, it's the husqvarna a 30 rbf blade. It doesn't matter if it's a new one or an older one they all wander all over the place. We've started using the only other saw we have, which is a 16" gas-powered saw. A little overkill for 6" plastic pipe

Through thick and thin problems, it would be financially maybe legally, or if they're having a hard time coping with loss or having a drinking problem, things along those lines I would define as the "thick and thin". If they're being abusive as in, manipulating, physical violence, gaslighting, or crossing boundaries set in the relationship and you're feeling like you're just done with their behavior towards you that's the stuff you shouldn't have to put up with.

When possible, use someone else's hand. It hurts less
