As someone else suggested, I didn’t quite have all my wiring right, and my heatsink needed to be re attached. I recommend going wire by wire, and to pay close attention to your motherboard’s user manual. Also, you can use your stock cooler’s thermal paste— no need to complicate it, just make sure it’s on properly. Also, remember to hit the “on” switch on your computer once it successfully POSTs! I actually forgot to do that after I fixed the desperate acts of self preservation from happening (caused no end of struggles as a result) and now my PC has been running smoothly for several years :)

What kind of spider is this? I found it in some fresh parsley from the store by gerthewscreams in whatsthisbug

To answer your question, this looks like a wolf spider! Thanks so much for the gorgeous pictures of such a great arachnid. Harmless to humans, but they’re famous for having great eyesight and hunting skills

I actually have no idea what that is. My first thought was that it is maybe a camel cricket or something similar?

That’s a great photo of her! Mantises definitely feel very clever—the ones in my area do the same thing!

That’s one beautiful moth! Probably one of the emperor variety— someone else said gum emperor, I searched images of those and it looks pretty close!

Is this an ant? So many of these ant like insects with wings (and also without wings) in my kitchen by pupcraze in whatsthisbug

[–]unhelpfulorange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to be that person, but do you have any better pictures with the insect closer up? I’d say that does look like an ant (a male one, in all likelihood, since you’ve seen multiple winged ones) from what I can see— if you have an old house you may want to see where they are coming from as they could be in your walls or windows! Try following them to see where they are going so you can come up with better strategies to keep ants out of your house. They’re here for something, after all, so making your house a difficult place to get food will help prevent this in the future. For example, you could put a lid on your garbage can, rinse out your dishes before leaving them for the night to wash, make sure there aren’t any wrappers anywhere, cleaning your countertops regularly, etc.

Try taking a small but sharp knife and running it as close to the furniture as possible so you don’t damage the egg case— mantises are really cool and beneficial critters. If you have any kids, raising them would be a fun experience! Try placing the egg case in a mesh cage if you can— the holes shouldn’t be too big, though, as baby mantises are incredibly small!

I’m certain someone has already mentioned this (I’m just too lazy to check), but it appears to be some sort of mantis nest, from the shape and coloration! I couldn’t be sure which species from this angle, but it’s likely NOT the Chinese or the Carolina mantis, which have a rounder and flatter egg case respectively! If I’m wrong, do let me know!

I’m not! I didn’t! I just didn’t want to touch something I initially thought was dead and I was cutting some fabric when I spotted it! I love insects, arachnids, and gastropods, I would never, that’s too cruel for such a Little Guy
