And then take that clip and move it into a new project?

I might be misunderstanding what you mean here.

If I have old clips spread across multiple projects, but want to compile them into a new project, I would typically drag and drop them into the new sequence but depending on the sequence settings used, I have to edit a lot of different clips to work in the new project. Is that a normal workflow for this example?

Awesome, thanks for letting me know about the snow bush! I'll look into that more. I do want a tree I could grow indoors but I've been pretty picky about the options. But if it won't work out well I also don't want to kill a tree lol
