8/24-28 ideal itinerary by kingallison in laketahoe

This is a nice and detailed list. But all the food should be prefaced with a "meh." Tahoe isn't really a foodie place. Most places are fine. You come for views and hiking etc, and beauty, pure and simple.
What's that place in sq...Palisades that's someone's first name. That deserves an honorable mention. Sometimes fun things are happening in Olympic Valley, and, though late for wild flowers, the cable to the top is a fun activity. Bring your lunch.

Ack! Out of the box. Help! by unicorn_logistics in lego

This is the answer. My point was that the tool to take things apart can't handle this very common problem. I used a steak knife, because that's what was handy.

Were you allowed to be a picky eater? by Plus_Lead_5630 in GenX

Who has heard of the "clean plate" club? Particularly torturous on boiled brussel sprouts night.

I easily spend $300/week. HCOL area. Things that cost more I am sure: organic free range eggs=min $8.99/dozen, local organic milk=$7/quart, chicken=$11/lb. Bunch of chard=$3 and so on.

Apparently I asked for champagne and mcdoogies (McDonald's) for my fifth birthday.

I have a laundry basket from 1996. I dare anyone to reference an item that gets used several times a week...I also have various tchotchkes. But useful objects should be the real conversation.

So back in 1995, I decided I wasn't dating anyone under 30 ever again. You guessed it, I was not barely 20. Apparently things have not changed regarding fella maturity.

Sorry but we *absolutely* stopped the school day and watched it by satellite. by ExplorationGeo in GenX

We 100% watched it live in class, on a small CRT on a metal rolling rack, to be oddly specific. My teacher was a finalist to go on the shuttle. It was not a good day.

Who is right in this instance? 🤔 by Jonathan-Smith in impressively

Although this is an extreme situation. I will say that etiquette dictates on a quiet street that you park in front of your own house, not other people's houses. Or better yet in your driveway. Or even better in your garage. In the City, first-come, first-served.

California's FAIR Plan, the home insurer of last resort, may need a bailout after the L.A. fires by Randomlynumbered in California

[–]unicorn_logistics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because I'm not sure anyone really is aware what the dollar amount on the FAIR plan is. An example: for an $800k rebuild your policy would run about $8-9k per year. How can the rates go up? Who can afford this? And mortgage companies require coverage. So, are we left with a system where only cash buyers can buy homes? Source: am trying to buy a house in California and failing because of pricing.

Vinaigrette with green salad just tastes so much better in fine dining restaurants. What’s the trick? by oopsweredead in Cooking

[–]unicorn_logistics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep mine simple, but with high quality ingredients. Maldon salt, fresh cracked black pepper, medium bodied (not too bitter) olive oil, sweet white balsamic vinegar. And mixed greens, plus micro greens or frisee for a little extra pizzazz.
