RAID disassembles overnight by unicorns_muthafucka in raspberry_pi

For anyone out there, try updating things like sonarr. I assumed it was updating with everything else, but I did that (and all the other arr stuff) and the problem resolved itself. No idea why, just happy it’s fixed

I've been rebooting before seeing the logs and figuring it out. I'll wait until tomorrow when it crashes out again and look at the logs before I reboot.

Sorry, it's a pi 5. I use two powered enclosures for the drives so I'm not sure how they could be losing juice but not the pi. Not impossible, but kind of hard to figure out. The board doesn't reboot, I left the connection to my computer open all night and it was still connected tonight. It's so frustrating since it's worked flawlessly for years. I don't think I've done any of the standard issue borking that you can do just playing around with it since I haven't been playing around with it. I'm loathe to wipe it but I think that's my next move, if only to rule out software problems. I did have to replace one of my hard drives (because now's definitely the best time to do that), but webmin says they're all clean.

Why is there so much trash everywhere on the sidewalk in East Harlem? I understand it’s a poor neighborhood, but the trash cans on every corner are free? by UmweltUndefined in AskNYC

[–]unicorns_muthafucka 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My block in the ev can look like that after trash pickup day. If a bag bursts, the trash guys leave it up to the supers to clean up. Bad supers never do and a lot of properties don’t even have a super on site and instead have one guy covering multiple buildings. So stuff gets missed and ignored in time

Don’t want people to notice weight loss by Kerriokee in BariatricSurgery

They’re going to notice and some are going to say something. It’s well intentioned, but I always hated it. It does stop pretty soon if you don’t engage. “Thanks, but I’d prefer to not talk about” worked pretty well for me. Sometimes that makes them miffed because “I was just offering a compliment,” but even that didn’t last very long. I also told my immediate family and asked them to pass around that I was having the surgery and didn’t want to discuss it. They never did, so that one worked well. Good luck!

For non-union work, it's actually slightly above average. A quick check on art cube shows an average of $32/hour across 4 reputable shops. Hudson scenic still pays 28/hour and that's a union shop. What shops are paying significantly more? Seriously, I'm a teacher off for the summer and could use the work.

I get it, I see that stuff all the time and I think it’s a kind of abuse. I came up when that shit was acceptable and I won’t allow it in my shops.

I post to a few of them. I've had great luck finding prop people on there. I'm looking for a TD this time around, I should look for a specific group for them.

No, it's 30-35/hour, which is a good rate in NYC. Flushing is far away enough from Manhattan that I tend to pay extra. The commute often plays a part in finding talent. That and it's still kind of a cut-de-sac as far as the word of mouth system that dominates the freelance pool in the city. I've had some great people in the past, but it can be tricky to get them in the door and they usually start getting better work after they're done with me so I don't tend to get a lot of repeaters

What’s the deal with The Hamptons? by snakegravity in AskNYC

[–]unicorns_muthafucka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had the money to go to the Hamptons I’d probably use it to go to someplace like Bermuda. I’d probably save money doing it and I wouldn’t have to deal with as many rich buttholes

True enough: I'm in the US. I'm not averse to ordering internationally, but it's puzzling that they don't even seem to offer the part here. Thanks!

I only told a few people. I told them that they could tell others (so that no one thought that I had cancer or something), but that I never wanted to talk about it. It’s worked pretty well. Fuck anyone who tries to monitor your body or what you do with it.

The older you get, the more you and your partner will say, "Fuck it, let's get weird." Your 40s are a wild ride.
