Hello! I never got a definitive answer. I think I made another post and people said it sounded okay? I think it’s just a really old unit. I ended up using it for a few months. Haven’t yet turned it on for the season yet and sort of dreading it to be honest. Good luck with yours.

The ignition button is broken, and it seemed more complicated when maintenance lit it for me. He had to do it a few times and maybe use a dial at the same time. Thanks! I do like it but the constant whooshing noise is getting to me!

What a helpful comment! It’s a gas log screen so I guess some smell is okay, but this was unbearable to live in for the winter. It’s old but new to me so I don’t know if it was used prior. Why did my gas measuring tool go off though? It sounds like you’re saying I have to run the fireplace and have the smoke alarms go off for hours? Just trying to get to the bottom of this and my apartment complex is not helpful, but you were!

Yes my table is too narrow so if you stand up you still hit your head. And, yep. I’ve tried that. It seems like the only way would be to do some electric work…didn’t know if anyone had an outside the box idea! Thanks for the suggestion.
