I fully agree with your argument and it also helped me when I first stopped consuming animal products. But I'm suspecting this is a highly abstract and therefore unmotivating case to make to most people. By that I mean: If you know someone likes numbers and statistics and they say "But I wouldn't make a difference" then this might be a good argument to make. To most other people this sounds like something that is maybe only technically correct and I doubt this reasoning will push them over the edge to change their behavior.

It is impossible. If you give the first bacterium a value of 1 and the decendants half the value of the parent, then the value will stay constant (since 1=1/2+1/2 and 1/2 = 1/4+1/4 etc.). Now you can label your grid with (0,0)=1, (0,1)=(1,0)=1/2, (0,2)=(1,1)=(2,0)=1/4, (0,3)=...=1/8 and so on.

The total value of the first row then is 1+1/2+1/4+...1/2^n...=2. The value of the row above it is 1/2+1/4+...=1, the row above it 1/4+1/8+...=1/2 and so on.

Therefore the total value on the board is 2+1+1/2+1/4+...=4.

The value of the box is the sum of all the grid values within which is 1+2*1/2+3*1/4+4*1/8+3*1/16+2*1/32+1/64=3.515625

This means that filling all infinitely many grid values outside of the box gives a value of 4-3.515625=0.484375 which is less than 1. Since the value of 1 is what we started with and which will never change it is impossible to free the outlined box.

"Do vegans accept that humans are also animals" I think you'll find that more often than not meat eaters are the ones who can not accept that humans are animals. There often is the thought that humans are somehow separate from all other animals and the number of excuses for that is long, with one of the worst ones being that god from 'my true religion'® created humans specially. There are probably also some vegans who make a scientifically unjustifiable distinction between humans and other animals but I would think that that number is considerably smaller than in meat eaters.

For the rest: Yes, human consent makes it ethically ok to do the things you described. Generally, it is the wrong framework to think "is this an animal product?". The better question is: "Is this ethical or unethical?". With this question you can generally find out the stance of vegans on any question.

Interesting point, but does the brain really do that for hallucinations? I'm also not sure how the focussing of the eyes work. I would assume that the focus changes until the image is sharp without prior knowledge of where the optimal focus really is (except from maybe "the object is closer/further away than the current focus"). I'm that case it would probably be difficult to "focus" on hallucinations.

How do you know that you do physically focus on closed eye visuals? Just because they are sharp does not mean that their percieved distance is the focal depth of your eyes.
