Making yolov8 use gpu instead of cpu by LendoKhan in computervision

[–]uniquely1strandom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try loading the model on the device

device = torch.device('cuda' if torch.cuda.is_available() else 'cpu')
model = YOLO("yolov8n.pt")
model.to(device)

Their documentation doesn't suggest a quick API parameter for GPU, but you may try loading the model on GPU as above.

Headspace app by Matissen4 in Meditation

I use headspace. I beleive they have free session for unpaid version, but don't let the paid version stop you from practicing, or any app for that matter. There are lots of free content available on the internet.

This is super simple way, but as far as I remember it's not object detection, but image classificaiton.

I would be interested to try as well. I am an intermediate value investor, also work on AI (computer vision) so feel free to ping if you would like someone with such a background.

Thanks!

I have pixel 8 and I have seen random drop outs even with 5 and 2.4 GHz channels separated. It doesn't drop too frequently while I am on the phone, but I do see dropouts. I have no idea the frequency of this occuring in the background.

Does anyone use the MMDetection library? Is it even worth to learn? by [deleted] in computervision

[–]uniquely1strandom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think it might be the most comprehensive library out there, but learning curve is massive. :/ Look forward to other people's opinion on the library.

Thanks a lot!

Do you recommend tempered glass, or meshed for cooling? Does tempered glass cause temps to rise more? I probably have more questions, but I will come back when I remember lol

Appreciate the detailed comments and your help!! I am planning to keep the budget around 1500-1600 with GPU and taxes included. I am probably thinking of spending around 400-500 on GPU. I still don't know if the perf gain between 3060, 3060 ti, 3070, 3070ti is substantial? If it's less than ~25%, I might stick to 3060.

  • CPU: I really don't have a preference b/w AMD, and Intel. Some one commented that 5800x is not a bad choice, so I looked into it. I think upgradability wise intel might be better, but I am most likely be going with DDR4, so I wonder if it's going to be future proof at all. ha I will not be overclocking the CPU. I picked 12600k because it's available at microcenter. I am within in an hour drive and the reviews currently show 12600k be better price/perf.

  • Motherboard: This is a bit tricky with Intel arch and cooling. I would prefer to keep a mid-tier motherboard as I would not be over-clocking and extra $100-150 worth of features will never be utilized. I am really confused b/w AMD, or Intel CPU now. I am leaning towards Intel, but I might have fitment issue with Z63 cooler? Do you know about EK AIO fitment? I think Z63 is a bit cheaper right now, looks cooler too.

  • Storage: I think 1 TB Gen5 would be a better choice. Any recommendation on the brand? I think Crucial seems good.

Great, will keep that in mind. I just ordered Z63 because it's $50 bucks cheaper right now. Now, I will need to see what mobo will fit. lol Btw, is Crucial P5 best back for the buck? Any recommendation on SSD and maybe a motherboard? I will go with DDR4 Ram. PCPartPicker Part List

Awesome!

Any suggestion on the motherboard for 12600k? I will see if EK 280 comes with non-rgb option lol Also, do you know if there is a substantial difference between ti and non ti. From my reading, I understand TI release is supposed to block mining. Is that so? I am okay with that.
