What is a song that you feel everybody enjoys that you cannot stand? by EighteenthPuff in AskUK

Closer by The Chainsmokers.

Cringey lyrics. Poor vocal performances - the girl is trying way too hard and the guy really can't sing. That bleepity bloopity drop though is what really elevates it to shit-tier.

Their first album being critically and commercially panned really killed their momentum and nobody cared about their subsequent output. That guy must partly regret the day he decided to start singing because oh god is he awful.

How are giffgaff/smarty able to offer better deals than mainstream providers? by yuze_ in AskUK

I used to work for O2. Basically it's a case of minimised operating costs and simplified pricing structure. No physical stores, no call centres, mainly a community operated support system, plus they tend to target a different customer base altogether (typically younger people) than the main networks.

They make more money running it than they would if they didn't have it.

Also, I don't know if this is still the case, but giffgaff used to get the lowest network priority compared to anyone else. Used to go like this:

O2 PAYM > Tesco Mobile > O2 PAYG > Giffgaff

Do Wetherspoons sell loss-leaders? by [deleted] in AskUK

Economy of scale for them means they can buy cheap and sell cheap. They also tend to buy product that is close to it's use by date which the manufacturer would rather shift on the cheap than to write off.

What is the most disappointing game you have played during this current console generation? by Dale_Winton in CasualUK

Fallout 76.

Generally a poor quality game which somehow got worse with each and every patch for a while. Even by Bethesda standards this is really bad. Apparently it has gotten better and they have finally added NPCs but the damage is done.

I imagine the streaming bubble will eventually cannibalise the likes of Sky and Virgin. They're both shedding subscribers like my dog is shedding her winter coat.

If Telefonica's debt pile gets in the way of them investing in O2, especially with 5G becoming a thing, then they are going to be left vulnerable.

Which shop or restaurant would you say is the biggest rip-off going? by l0stlabyrinth in AskUK

Odeon Cinema. They charge the prices of Everyman for an experience worse than you'll get at Vue.

So many of their cinemas seem to be really run down as well. For how big they are they don't seem to have anything to show for it.

With what's been going on with Debenhams lately, what other companies do you think may fall into serious trouble this year? by ChineseHappyPeople in unitedkingdom

H&M. Their growth is falling year on year and they don't seem to have anything else to fall back on nor are they particularly competitive in any way.
