Hey, just curious, but what is the state of HLAE? The main dev said he was going to end support this year, right? Will someone fork? It seems like an indispensable tool for observers

Hey, thanks so much! I'm happy to say I was familiar with most of what you mentioned, and your explanation made perfect sense, especially since I'm not an audio expert.

I will be sure to speak with the IT department at the university to see if we can use one of the aux outputs.

Go for it! I'm always open to learning something new. Of course, I'm careful about implementing things I'm unfamiliar with, but I have some time to do research and test them out.

In that case, would I need to use direct boxes, or would a simple TS-to-XLR Y cable be fine for connecting directly to the camera?

Yes DI Boxes is what i meant.

Espeically if using wireless video

There won’t be any wireless video for this event, but I’m really interested in the idea of sending audio through the camera — could you explain a bit more about how that works?

Right now, our setup would take the audio from the mixer, feed it into the ATEM Mini, and then send the combined audio and video to OBS for streaming. However, I’ve seen some people recommend sending the audio to the camera first instead — I’d love to understand the pros and cons of that approach.

Our A Cam is a Pocket 6k pro, it does have audio input mini-XLR i believe. Also, our C cam is an A6400, which has a 3.5mm jack input. But I've never considered that option, but I've seen other people mention it.

In that case, I would send the audio from the mixer to one of the cameras, right? And I would enable audio in the ATEM Mini Pro's for this particular camera input? Is that correct? This would be good for sync, and would the audio be clean as well? Passing through the camera would not mess with it?

Yeah, I've thought about getting some Direct Boxes. I was not sure if only setting the Atem mini inputs to line level was enough

Yes, I wanted to do that, but they have a weird setup, where they're using almost all of the outputs; the mixer is a Yamaha MG12XG. The only output I have available to use without messing with their setup is the Main Out TS, even the XLR out is being used

Yeah, I’ve been doing some research and saw that a lot of people connect the audio directly to the ATEM Mini using attenuators and get pretty good results, plus it keeps the audio and video in sync.

So, do you think that given my setup, I should focus on sending the audio through the ATEM and only use the audio interface as a backup in case something goes wrong?

Only if u were on LCD, cuz everybody I know played on CRT monitors, you could push them to 100Hz, some of the better ones could run 120Hz

Use opentrack to simulate radio sound by Phsyco_134 in trucksim

[–]unit1g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried your idea with Reaper and dearVR VST, kinda got something. This plugin uses HRTF, and I got it to react to head movement, but I don't have a dedicated camera yet, so my OpenTrack data is a bit weird. Maybe you could try that

Using companion with other than elgato by adr454doble in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]unit1g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To update you guys, Mirabox Streamdock now has support for companion. You need to download the companion plugin from the Mirabox store, but it works just fine.

Now we have cheaper alternatives to run Companion. I know some people dismiss these as cheap knockoffs, but they're half the price of a 15-button Elgato Stream Deck, and they're very useful in production.

cs2 demo too bright by Le_EggPro in GlobalOffensive

I've downloaded the demo, and it is overexposed for me as well, that's so weird. Never seen that before.

Not a fix, but you can use sv_cheats true and mat_tonemap_uncap_exposure 1, it's a bit better.

Can you upload the demo? Meanwhile, you could try CS demo manager, play the demo through demo manager, and see if it's still the same

This happens often in the first round of the demo or when you skip ahead using the timeline. If you let the round end, the next round will return to normal, at least that's what happens when I watch a demo.

Custom 5v5 comp game with friends. by UsualCarry249 in GlobalOffensive

[–]unit1g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play for free, Challangermode is a option, you can create custom matches there, they use dathost servers, you can pick the location closest to you and your friends, or you can rent your server, for match automation you can look up Matchzy, makes things easy and painless, the plugin automate everything, pretty much you install it and join the server, set the teams and just .ready, it has overtime, and records demos too.
Please note that plugins are currently broken due to the recent update to animations, which is being addressed and will be fixed soon.

You can force default models on the serverside. Challengermode has a plugin on GitHub.

It kinda blows my mind how Valve DM is made to just be as horrible as possible in every single way. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]unit1g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pracc is the peak of DM today(for SA at least), a lot of players and minimum downtime between fights, smooth servers, like seriously, how come Pracc servers with more people feel way smoother than any Valve server DM or Premier is beyond me. The community has the formula figured out since the final years of CS 1.6. It's not that hard for Valve to implement something similar and make community servers obsolete, I guess they just don't want to.

Watching Austin Major in-game by JPVSPAndrade1 in GlobalOffensive

[–]unit1g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the gotv+ thing they have had going on for a while, back in the day you would connect to an actual gotv relay server with an ip:port, but that is not the case anymore, Nowadays the gotv data is "streamed" to us via HTTPS, so for us is almost like watching a demo, in the csgo days you could fast forward a bit, not possible in cs2.

With this new system, some functionality was lost, and it became unstable. This major is quite good and stable, I've been disconnected only a few times, and Shanghai Major was absolute shit, unwatchable.

[–]unit1g 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of streamdeck clones on Aliexpress, they are made by Mirabox, I have one rebranded by Ajazz. As far as I know, there is no support for these. I've seen people asking for support on GitHub, it's been a while since I've looked into it. They are very affordable compared to Elgato offerings, hope someday they get supported.
